[Disney+] An interesting proposal on toxic masculinity around a coming of age in which the protagonist finds himself between two father figures that is marked by a kind of primitive violence, which offers a suggestive look at the representation of masculinity in the afro american community. Between a controlling father and a father who ran away but wants his space back, both offers an oppressive perspective for the adolescent Darious, but at the same time they play pathetic roles of fatherhood. It's an interesting idea that sometimes gets unbalanced along the way, but finds important things to say.

Good performances from the cast but the lackadaisacal pace threatens to undermine the movie's message.
