When a young rock group called The Mystery gets its first gig at a club, it's an opportunity to see what life is all about. Fresh out of high school, the rockers are hired by an exclusive beach resort thanks to a faded '60s songwriter. There, they meet with romance and adventure. But street-smart lead singer Jennie Lee faces a dilemma: pursue her budding career or finish high school.
It's a cliche-ridden grrrl power movie about a rock band trying to make it, until the lead singer falls in love with Liam Neeson. Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but I was still having loads of fun with it, despite itself. The leads are all really likeable and the fun they have is infectious. And while the cover songs they play are all super corny, I'd be lying if I said they don't get stuck in my head...
