Ferrari

Set during the summer of 1957. Ex-racecar driver, Enzo Ferrari, is in crisis. Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for one son and the acknowledgement of another.
If you came to watch this movie thinking it was going to be a movie about car racing you were probably disappointed. Yeah there is going to be some of that because that is the business of the protagonists but this movie is a drama about people and their conflicts and heartbreaks.
It was a very good movie. Shailene Woodley was awful at trying to play an Italian woman. Her accent was horrible. Not sure what the casting director was thinking casting her in this movie.
Adam Driver was good of course but for me the heart of this movie was Penelope Cruz. Penelope Cruz had my attention from the very first scene she was in and she did not let up the whole movie. I’m actually quite surprised she didn’t not get more recognition during awards season.
Those last few minutes of the movie were just stunning and I didn’t not expect what happened at all.
What an unexpectedly great movie. My respect to the director and also to Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz. Bravo!
