Snakes and Earrings

While alone in a nightclub, straight-laced Lui meets sensitive but troubled punk kid Ama. Mesmerized by his split tongue, she becomes obsessed with body modification and soon wants the same treatment. After Ama's heavily-tattooed friend Shiba pierces her tongue, Lui finds herself inexorably drawn to both men – and to her growing list of desires, she now adds a tattoo.
overall, I do like the movie. it started off well & started going downhill when
Ama ran off (aka. went missing). There just wasn't enough of a connection between the two to convince me she would be that messed up because he doesn't come home for a night.
Japanese films of this genre are often thought provoking to the point of helping you see or consider a whole other dark side of humanity. The nature of the relationship & interplay between Liu & Shiba is a whole lot more fascinating with more depth. If the story with Ama was a bit tighter, I think the film would rate a whole lot higher! and it doesn't hurt Liu is uber kawaii! ^_^ great performance for a film so early on in her career!
