I soooo love it how the trailer completely ignores that the all-female Ghostbusters movie ever existed. Like it never happened, like it was only a bad dream. ❤

EDIT:
Just watched it. I can't say the movie was spectacular, but **it was darn spectacular to me**.
I believe the movie paid all due respects to the Ghostbusters and that it was carefully made not to disappoint. It worked!
And yes, I'm high on nostalgia while typing it.

P.S. Anyone else got emotional when Ecto-1 first sounded the sirens?

Everything I could have hoped for. Seems like a passing of the torch, hopefully they continue and start down their own path. Great movie and made my eyes water

Now THAT is how you do a Ghostbusters movie. Let's forget about the travesty of the all female cast reboot of a few years ago, if we close our eyes, that shit-show never happened right!

Fast forward a few years and we are treated with this. It was worth the wait, the expectation and the hype. I LOVED IT, absolutely loved it. This felt like an 80's movie. Play so much homage to the original (and still the best) of the lot. The sound of the ECTO1, the Proton Packs, it just felt like 1984 again! I was 11 when I went to the cinema to watch the original. Watching this, I felt like that 11 years old back in the cinema all over again. It's amazing how this film turned back the clock!

I've always had a bit of a Man-Crush on Paul Judd and he didn't disappoint here either! In fact, the entire cast were just brilliant. A real feel good movie.
.. and to see the likes of nearly all the original cast in cameos, who just fell straight back into their role of almost 40 years ago like it was just yesterday, the one liners, the wit, just perfect - Spengler as a spirit and the nod to 'Harold' before the end credits, well, I welled up!
Oh and the post credit sequence .. just.. well .. maybe there's one more ..

Never in my wildest imagination did I expect it to be quite as good as it was, but I am glad, so glad it was. Just perfect. Just the sort of film we all need right now.

This is a very special movie for me. I used to be a big ghostbusters fan and seeing how this movie honor the original and does everything right, warms my heart :)

One of the first people to give me feedback on the latest Ghostbusters film said it was "very cheating", and perhaps that made me want to see it even more. For me, the original films (this house doesn't consider the awful 2016 reboot to be part of the saga) were perfect, with a balance of humour and horror that I haven't been able to find in any other film. And to think that Afterlife followed in those same footsteps, I wondered how they were going to do it?

Well, in the best way they could: with love and respect for the original works.

Because the screenwriter and director, Jason Reitman, is the son of Ivan Reitman, director of the original films. What's more, he has a small part in the second part. Only someone like that could put so much effort into making Afterlife the gem that it is, and the gift to those of us who enjoyed it with wide eyes all those years ago.

Afterlife has the same atmosphere and is plagued - plagued - with winks, tributes (the biggest and most touching, to Harold Ramis himself who left us in 2014) to the original works, and after watching the end credits you won't be able to help but want to see them again. It's a film that makes you feel "right", where nothing is forced.

I have nothing to criticise the film, because even the casting seemed ideal to me. And I'm usually quite negative about certain actors, but Mckenna Grace (unknown behind the hair and make-up work) is perfect in her role.

I will review this film in the context of the world it exists in. The original Ghostbusters is, of course, perfection.

This sequel is the perfect 35 years later sequel. It finds the balance between nostalgia and new, it never tarnishes the legacy but only adds to it.

And that ending. Oof. Incredible. (As someone who was once described by a colleague as an Egon Spengler lookalike, and to be fair it's the only celebrity comparison I don't disagree with, yeah. This film hit different).
