I really loved this. As a movie it was entertaining and high stakes, but cinematography was absolutely brilliant. The practical effects are insanely good and hold up brilliantly to this day. The actings great, the scale of the whole movie feels so real and good. Insanely happy that the homeless guy and his dog survived.

I loved this film since I was little and I'm sure I will never stop to rewatch it. The special effects are amazing and the plot, olso if it isn't so original, is very very exciting

Wonderful way to get a powerful economical message across while also being entertaining. Feel horrible for those people on the ISS watching the world freeze, burn, and die right before their eyes tho. The Idiocracy in people who live on/near a beach and not knowing what a tsunami looks like and it’s signs bothered me though

The movie's message is pretty simple:

We either clean the air or the nature does, by freezing everything that is.

Initially gave this a 7/10 growing up, but having re-watched it half a dozen times since it really has grown on me as one of the best disaster movies made. Far fetched or not it's told well with a good balance of disaster and human drama.

Cool to see a young Gyllenhaal and Rossum 20 yrs on. Quaid is great here as well. 7.5.

say that is cold comming is an understatement, Roland Emmerich always as effective in the alarmist films. "Louis Litt" always so silly and cheater

Not a bad movie but, ad often with Emmerich, realism is sacrifices I order to insert cool looking special effects and artificial suspense. Not as good as it could have been but ok to watch nonetheless.

It is heartbreaking.

20 years after this movie is released, global warming is so damn close. And I am sure all this disaster movies are not science fiction. It will happen.

These ideas did not come from nowhere.

A good entertainment. Forget the gap of reality like walk from Philly to Manhattan.
