Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! Take On Me

Yuuta and Rikka are in their third year of high school. One day in Spring, Touka declares that she will take Rikka to Italy with her, as her job has stabilized there and thinks they should migrate together as a family. Touka is also worried about Rikka not being competent enough to advance to universities in Japan. The gangs from the club suggested Yuuta, who doesn't want to be separated, to elope with Rikka!! A runaway drama throughout Japan begins.
Wild that a major plot point of this movie is the older sister blackmailing her younger sister’s friends with outing them out of the closet (but in a funny ha ha they’re not really gay way because KyoAni is gonna KyoAni) to get them to help her control her younger sister’s life and she’s still played sympathetically and charmingly? You know reading that out my original rating of 2.5 may be a bit high. It’s very pretty! Shinka and Sanae again steal the show, but you know they can’t pull the trigger. And Yuuta and Rikka still have no romantic chemistry. This show was a big part of my life years ago, when I lapped up KyoAni material, and there is some great material there no doubt. But I think I have even less tolerance for their straight romance stuff now, that feels now more than ever obligatory and in the way of the things I do like. Those things being Shinka, Sanae, and Satone. Maybe I’ve jury grown out of those romances, but I’ll always have a spot in my heart for that trio. All said it was nice to finally close this chapter, and I still plan to watch more KyoAni stuff, but I’ll always look forward more to the Nichijous and the Citys more than this and the Tamako Market movie I still have to see that also has the obligatory straight romance at the center but at least the sad gay girl on the side is textually gay?
