The Glorias

An equal rights crusader, journalist and activist: Gloria Steinem embodies these and more. From her role in the revolutionary women's rights movement to her travels throughout the U.S. and around the world, Steinem has made an everlasting mark on modern history. A nontraditional chronicle of a trailblazing life.
A tad overlong maybe, but still a worthwhile film. Some would call it timely but that would be wrong, because what Gloria spoke about has always been timely. The film falls down a little with its biographical tropes but its hard to escape that trap given the nature of the film. Still, Taymor injects life into it with some wonderfully surreal moments, so its more engaging than similar films that dig deep into feminism's past.
