Following the fashion of turning all stories into a chronicle of refugees, the director transfers the representation of a Germany seduced by National Socialism to the present day without much success. And he turns Franz into a useful fool and Reinhold into a weak and smug character whose power of fascination is nowhere to be found. It is a film that delights in the visual part, but finds few resources to delve into the context, burying the dramatic possibilities of the characters.
