A decent watch. Loved the design of the werewolves!
I still stand by it: a werewolf movie isn't a true werewolf movie if it doesn't show you the transformation, be it through practical effects or CGI (looking at you straight into the eyes *Werewolf By Night*).
**Viking Wolf** is certified werewolf movie! The transformation was great, a mix of both practical effects and CGI. The CGI actually looks good (for the wolf at least) and I like the design it looks cool and threatning. We get a surprising amount of scenes with the wolf, all of which are thrilling. I wish it showed more of the kills though, the camera tends to cut away from them. There's also lots of backstory about the Norwegian werewolf mythology which I found fascinating and really added to the story. Good acting, beautiful landscapes, cliché werewolf story, rough characters, some twists and awesome gore.
While **Viking Wolf** doesn't bring anything new to the genre, it's a good cliché werewolf movie with some suspenceful wolf action and a decent bite.
It had 'Viking' & 'Wolf' in the title.... of course I was going to watch it... :)
Not too badly done cliche werewolf movie, a bit half-assed on the rest. Just pretty much goes through all the classic steps. The "Viking" thing is just bait.
Wolf looks a bit shabby, but the transformation scene is ok.
Timeline is blurry, there seem to be nights, so it does not happen on a 2-3 days scale, however the moon is full and nothing suggests that a whole month passed between events either.
The relationship between the mother and daughter is really like "yeah let's just say they have history" for the sake of it. Nothing comes out of it.
Stupid things:
- the girl just disappears from home for two whole days and it seems no one noticed ?
- the shittiest werewolf hunter ever. The guy know how to do it, yet instead he just
try to ran her with a car, easily (and obviously missing her) while at the same time hurting two people and killing himself
which such an obvious result for such a lame action.
Ending is a bit weird too. It's not shown whether she
kills Thane. But the silver bullet left might suggest she didn't.
However, her hand looks healed in the final scene, so it's at the very least weeks after. So does she just go around with that bullet on her every day ?
The transformation sequence on camera is very good. First scene gives a good setup but no follow up from there. Mediocre watching experience.
The opening prologue promised a better film than what we were given. This is passable but with few scares on offer, this doesn't have much to offer werewolf fans.
The cgi of the wolf wasn't great. I think a lot more could have been done with this. The actual transformation was pretty good though.
Nothing to see here, bad script, bad acting, CGI, the 2 minutes of intro are better than the entire movie. Skip it.
4/10
Piss-poor
"Troll" is definitely the better NorFlix new movie
That one is frickin awesome,
But this movie Jesus
1h 38m felt like
3h, no likable characters,
Therefore nobody to root for. The mother, daughter
Was annoying as Hella.
Loads a people got bit and scratched so their
should be a shit load of WW running around,
The deaf daughter signing
to the WW sister just made me roll my eyes,
The old hunter man
Not coming in silver bullets blazing at the end
Made no sense at all,
He was a pointless
Plot Device who effectively committed suicide.
I saw the ending a mile away, it was only a
plaster cast.
This one was a waste of
My time, shame as well
As I'm into this deal
What Netflix have made
With Norwegians to have more of their content on
The Netflix platform,
But you can't win/enjoy them
All I suppose.
Verdict: not enough in
This movie for me
and what was in it
Wasn't done well at all.
"Not For Me"
I see Norway's cliché refuge is running overtime...
A decent watch. Loved the design of the werewolves!
