If _12 Monkeys, and _Jacob's Ladder_ (1990) had a baby, it would be _The Jacket_.
This movie is difficult to classify, it has elements of sci-fi, drama, mystery, even romance. However, the genre details aren't as important as the story itself, and the story isn't as important as the emotional content within. This is one of those rare movies that can't really be spoiled: you could know every part of the movie, read the screenplay, and it wouldn't ruin the journey. Adrien Brody, and Keira Knightley **are** this movie.
If I could time travel to an era when video-rental stores existed, I'd put this in the sci-fi section, although, the reason I'd watch this would be for the romantic component.
What to know before going into this: if you don't enjoy mind-bendy sci-fi, you're probably not going to like this. If you want this to be a loud, action-packed popcorn flick, you're not going to like this. This movie is very subdued, cerebral, and filled with a kind of emotional beauty that is difficult to put into words without getting into maudlin poetry.
All this for a film about a guy being strapped into a straitjacket, locked in a mortuary cabinet, and time traveling to fall in love with Keira Knightley. Sounds stupid in oversimplified terms, but ultimately, it's a reminder that love is worth all the time in the world.

The Jacket is an excellent sci-fi drama that’s suspenseful and thrilling. The film effectively tells a time-travel mystery without getting caught up in the hows and whys: Jack Starks must solve the mystery of his death after learning of it while undergoing an experimental medical treatment that briefly transported him into the future accidentally. The cast is especially good and includes Adrien Brody, Keira Knightley, Kris Kristofferson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Brody does an exceptional job, as does Keira Knightly; who gives a daring performance that really elevates the film. Also, the mystery is quite compelling and takes a number of twists and turns. A provocative and well-crafted thriller, The Jacket explores some deep questions about life and death.

A good movie with blow mind plot and great perfomances from both main actors especially from Brody.Pace is "flat" the only problem with this movie is that there is not a scene in which you can say wow.7.2/10

I always like how time traveling movies have their own set of rules and let us try to figure it out even after the movie is over. Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley are really good in this and I am happy with the amiguous ending. Also, Daniel Craig's character truly creeped me out.

The Jacket (2005) - ❤x6

It's a well-acted movie and the Syfy part of the story is interesting, but I wanted more.

How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!

The whole idea started to wear thin and lose my interest. It had the same pacing as a slow haunting movie, and they really bore me. It's like watching the same scenes that slowly increase in intensity the next time you see them. Keira Knightly over acted. She was pretty bad. She ruined any scene she was in. The plot is all over the place for the sake of trying to be complex. It never focused on anything relatable for us to feel for the character, it was just Brody going mad. Brody tries really hard so I will give him credit.
