What a brilliantly sweet, funny, touching and positive comedy. You feel emotionally attached to the characters which over the course of the short episodes are swung from laughter to tears.
Not usually a fan of comedies but when they are this good will happily watch on repeat.
First, American with family from the UK. British humor is slightly different, more dry and sarcastic usually than American humor. So Americans who have a more dry sense of humor might find this even funnier than the American version. Personally, I love both.
Next, I'm disappointed they decided to end the British version at the end of the 5th season. The baby was the excuse aside, it left more questions than answers since as many of the American version episodes have capitalized on, Allison see ghosts no matter where she is. There's no escaping them for her. The ending seemed rushed, anti climatic and really pretty stupid. More like some stupid TV exec decided to pull the plug because it's cheaper to have reality TV morons running around the world or risking death for pennies on the dollar/pound than it is to pay script writers and actors and set designers to create quality entertainment.
There could've been so much more humor around trying to raise a child around the ghosts who clearly would keep an eye out all the time, and then also if the idea is most babies stop seeing them once they start to walk, does Mia end up seeing them longer? Many books have been based on the idea that imaginary friends might be ghosts, so why couldn't the show?
There were a couple slow points but not enough to cancel. Every show was funny.
9.8 out of 10, because the rushed ending sucked.
It's an absolute pleasure to watch...
Laffin so hard had to rewatch...
Every character is brilliant but my favourite is the caveman...
Binge watch on iplayer :)
I adore this series. I have faithfully waited for every season to drop and I am so sorry it is over. Don’t be confused, I’m talking about the original BBC series, not the American version. First of all, British history is millennial deep giving us a wider selection of people who could have died on the land and become resident ghosts (and characters). Second, British humour is so subtle and the writing is clever. Third, I simply love how Charlotte Ritchie, seemingly effortlessly, delivers comedy. Fourth, the ensemble cast was perfect and such accomplished actors that you may not realize that new episodic characters were often the ensemble wearing new roles. I’ll miss this show. I give this series a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Comedy]
Some fantastically talented and funny people involved in this program - very silly and almost entirely suitable for kids too.
Deffo won’t give you nightmares :thumbsup_tone1:
love,love,love,love this show
I liked the UK version much more than the US remake of which I started watching before this. I only started watching the original after persevering through season 1 of the US show of which the seasons are 3 times as long.
That said, this version “totally Ninja” peaked at the end of season 2 after a very satisfying, episode-by-episode improvement. After season 3 the show was just good and never reached those lofty heights again.
Not being a Christmasy person myself, ending the show a seasonal episode was unfortunate (although some of them were quite good). The lame Christmas-motivated sentimentality was a very weak ending. Getting the finale right is hard but as much as the general plot points worked, the emotional glue was poorly applied.
I’ll always remember this show for the first 2 seasons, they were absolutely top notch.
Lighthearted, slapstick, silly comedy.
Nothing out of this world, but I enjoyed it as a bit of light relief.
This is a cute and quirky show. It's not a laugh-a-minute kind of funny, but it certainly has its moments. The caveman is the funniest part of the show (imo).
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
