Yes, the show rather lost its edge after a few seasons in and rather deviated from the original plot. For a show to run for seven and now currently eight seasons with the same plot and setting would be dull (unless its a sitcom). I enjoyed the jaw-hitting-the-floor moments in season 6 and 7, despite it being FAR from the original plot. Personally I prefer Californication over Weeds, but I think Weeds has held up better in the long run, especially having run for two seasons longer.

Loved it up until around season 7 then it turned very hit or miss and then came the travesty of season 8 which had it's moments wrapped up the show but was horrible as hell Last episode was half decent tho for sure tho i heard most people disliked it

Weeds was my favourite show for a long, long time.
But now I am watching Season 8 and its getting worse. So boring.

A suburban mom turns to selling weed to support her family after her husband's sudden death, and hilarity ensues as she navigates the dark underbelly of her seemingly perfect neighborhood.

I'm obsessed with this show. It’s like a bad habit I just can't kick. The main character's sharp wit and sarcasm had me laughing out loud, while her outrageous antics kept me on the edge of my seat. The supporting cast is quirky and lovable, and I loved watching them get dragged into her chaotic world. It's a wild ride, but somehow it feels oddly comforting, like a weird cousin at a family reunion.

Overall, the show was great but definitely went on for two seasons too much. While they tried to renew their storylines as best as they could, some were definitely more hit and miss (I did not care much for season 6 and 7 for example). And honestly, the main character is kind of the worst you could expect so I'm not sure what was the fuss with her or why everyone seemed to love her. I mainly watched for the secondary cast (the kids, the uncle, the bad guys) because the whole "I'm just a mommy trying to do what's best" got annoying real fast. At least, they acknowledged that the character was fucked up in the later seasons....

I loved this show, the Stars and Characters were ones you could get to know and like and look forward to seeing each episode, I agree the last couple of seasons strayed far from it's beginnings, I wish they had gone another direction, but overall it's funny with a great cast and writing, loved it, I put it close to Justified, Deadwood, Rome, The Sopranos, Animal Kingdom, and some others that I rate just a bit higher, but it's right there just after all of those, I think if they had stuck to the original ideas that made it a hit, then it would have lasted much longer, 10 years at least, I could have kept watching it if they done that, I did not care for the Mexican connection at the end, loved the starts, they were all excellent, funny and serious at the same time, they seemed to ignore some characters at times when they should have used them more and explored them more, they also could have made them all just a bit smarter, in the real world, they would have all been in prison very quickly, would like to have seen a good strong tough character as their security person, would have made sense for them to have hired someone like that, and finding and adding the right person to compliment the cast would have been awesome, but for what it was, I thoroughly enjoyed it, kind of show you look forward to each episode and look forward to seeing what they are all up to.

Absolutely loved this show but season 6-7 was such a disappointment. Cheap/cop out subplots and a complete sense of detachment has left me with little satisfaction.

A golden opportunity was created at the end of Season 6 to really develop Shane's personality and all the Dexter-esque delights that could unfold in Season 7. However sadly this little gem wasn't taken advantage of and the writers missed out on reclaiming its edgy nature.

After being a bit late to get around to Weeds, I am glad I finally checked it out. The first three seasons were remarkable. In a way it was a Breaking Bad premise BEFORE Breaking Bad. It deserves a lot of credit for that. Unfortunately, after season three when they should have ended the show, the show got rid of its theme song and took a step backwards in quality. The charm of the first trio of seasons was never regained after that, but by season six I was still fully invested in its new tone and plot pace. At the end of six was another rather perfect stopping point. Then....there was two more seasons. I'm not saying they were bad, it was just another step backwards from seasons four thru six, let alone one to three. Overall, it is a solid show to check out, but be prepared for the fallout the further you get into it. With weed becoming legal in most of the country nowadays, the plot of this show feels a bit dated (even though they predicted it would be legal by 2022, so kudos to them), but it is still a solid and enjoyable premise.

Average Season Review: 7.63/10

Recommendation: At Least Give it a Whirl (For Breaking Bad Fans)
