If you are interested in Roman history this is a great series. This is a MUST WATCH.
After the first bad episode I wanted to give up watching, I'm glad I didn't, despite some historical errors, the series entertained me very well from episode 3 onwards, a good series despite some horrible CGI in some moments.
Easily one of the worst presentation cards for a decent show ever. The first episode feels like a kick in the gut and the retina, but once you set aside the awful CGI animals, you get a rather bold story with a pace that surprises you as much as any other frantic guilty pleasure.
Wouldn't dare comparing it to Spartacus, let alone Rome, but set design, costumes and characterization do show for a lot more production value than the Asylum-level VFX initially let on.
I found this show greatly appreciated, good story and visuals despite some CGIs throughout the show, very enjoyable and quite worth watching if you like ancient history, different from the others show recently.
This ends better than it starts. First few episodes I thought were alright, but really enjoyed it by the end. People have commented about the special effects and while they're fine for a tv show, there are a lot of them and they're far from perfect. I liked it. It's not Rome or Spartacus, but it's good.
Just downloaded the whole season,im hoping its gonna be as good as it sounds but peacock are not knowing for doing class tv shows.
potential for a great show here, but many of the most interesting characters get tossed aside by poor writing, and the often subpar acting combined with poor costuming, just makes it hard to care about.. mostly anything. and this is all worsened by some really poor CGI
also, disappointed that it felt like the show was trying to standout as something notably queer, just to forget about all that in the last few episodes.
Centering around a 'Peaky Blinders' like plot, gambling is all the creators of this show did. As expected from an 'Emmerich' production, everything from the script, characters and acting was soaked in exciting disappointment. Both rich like an emperor and poor like a slave, 'Those About To Die' either has expensive production and cheap writing, or penniless production with wealthy writing. Unfortunately, unlike 'Game of Thrones', or 'Peaky Blinders', this fails to create star-like characters. As spectacular as it might've gotten, I wouldn't want a season 2. At least they made it a 'fictional' fantasy scattered with sex and gore.
Very bad cgi at times. The plot is not bad tbh. It's a good watch if you don't go into this expecting gladiator fights all day.
You can even get used to the cgi, but this is sometimes VERY obvious and badly made.
