Forever Knight

Forever Knight is a Canadian television series about Nick Knight, an 800-year-old vampire working as a police detective in modern day Toronto. Wracked with guilt for centuries of killing others, he seeks redemption by working as a homicide detective on the night shift while struggling to find a way to become human again. The series premiered on May 5, 1992 and concluded with the third season finale on May 17, 1996.
Forever Knight was on Tuesday nights at 23:30 or 00:00, depending. It was one of the "Crimetime after Primetime" series before CBS sold out to crybaby david letterman. There is no comparison between the quality of the 2 programs. Forever Knight was a +9 or 10. Whereas if you could stomach letterman the raving egotist, the few shows I saw were mostly -7 or -8. CBS traded down in quality.
It's too bad another network didn't pick up Forever Knight and continue it. I miss do-gooders Nikola, Nat, Janine in the Raven, and even Skanky and LeCroix. Characters grew on you. Most stories were quite good. Acting was as fine as or better than any acting anywhere, and made you feel the people were real and actually the folks they depicted. Scene shot composition was usually high quality. Flashbacks of Nick, Janine and LeCroix added a sense of history. Good music added apropos atmosphere.
