Some shows hook you with their characters, others with the story, and a few simply because they have an irresistible personality. The Umbrella Academy has all of that and more. It’s an explosive cocktail of action, humor, deep emotions, and moments that are as weird as they are brilliant. And the best part? Amid all that chaos, it manages to move you, make you laugh, and keep you glued to the screen episode after episode.

From the very first chapter, it’s clear this isn’t your average superhero series. No one here wears their cape proudly — they all carry their traumas, regrets, and quirks… and that’s exactly what makes them so real and lovable. The bond between the Hargreeves siblings is the true heart of the story, with all the fights, reconciliations, weirdness, and unwavering loyalty that goes beyond any end-of-the-world scenario.

The show also has something few others do: a style all its own. Each season reinvents itself, changes the rules, dares to go places others wouldn’t even dream of, and still manages to stay coherent. The music, the random dance scenes, the time jumps, the unexpected villains, the tender moments in the middle of chaos… everything serves a unique universe with comic book flavor and the soul of a family drama.

Sure, not every arc hits the mark, and some seasons have slower stretches, but as a whole, it’s a gem that shines thanks to its boldness and freshness. And the cast gives it their all, with Elliot Page, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, and the rest making you believe every insane thing that happens, no matter how impossible it seems.

The Umbrella Academy is one of those series that leaves a mark, the kind you want to rewatch as soon as it ends just to relive the rollercoaster ride. For me, along with Black Summer and Seinfeld, it’s the best thing I’ve ever seen on TV. No doubt about it.

This show is my new favorite. It reminded me a little of ´A series of Unfortunate Events' in the way that both have a very weird, funny and different way of storytelling and I love both.
All of the characters are very cool and unique, all bringing their own element to the table. There is a sense of mystery throughout the entire season and it all fits together nicely in the end. I'm thrilled that there is going to be another season because there is still a lot more to this story.

The finale was really good. It was very emotional. At one point, I had tears in my eyes. Let me say my famous quote. Just like every beautiful thing comes to an end, we have come to the end of this beautiful thing. They save the world every season. I can't find anything to say about the acting, effects and the plot anyway. So a love story can destroy the world. It was very emotional that they were all together in the last scene. They are all where they should be. Just as they were a family in the beginning, they ended it as a family. It was a legendary season.

Such a big fan of this. Was turned off by yet another SuperHero show but am soooo glad I watched this. Twice actually. Can not wait for Season 2. If Game of Thrones is at the top of my pyramid, this show, Preacher and Magicians, WestWorld all sit at the same #2 position

Good show. Worth a watch.

Better than most Original shows from Netflix. Little predictable as stated by other reviewers.

Drags a little but that's typical of most of the shows on Netflix (for some reason they need to make 10-13 episodes for ever show which forces them to put in some really boring stuff which could've been avoided).

BTW, the motel in EP 8 looked like the same motel from Schitt's Creek (which by the way is prob one of the funniest shows on TV currently).

Season 3 isn't that bad. People just hate it for a different reason, not the season itself

Well, well, well, if it isn't my favorite graphic novel enthusiast with a taste for the dark and twisted! "The Umbrella Academy" is one show that's not afraid to embrace its comic book roots and dive into the depths of the human psyche. It's like "Sin City" meets "The X-Men," and it's got more twists and turns than a maze made of razor wire.

The show follows a dysfunctional family of superheroes, each with their own unique powers and issues. There's a time-traveling assassin, a talking monkey, and even a character who's a ghost for most of the series. But don't let the superpowers fool you - these characters are just as messed up as the rest of us. They're dealing with family drama, PTSD, addiction, and even the end of the world.

And the show doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of the graphic novels. There's plenty of violence, gore, and sex, all presented in a way that's both shocking and beautiful. The show's distinctive visual style, with its bold colors and dynamic camera angles, makes it feel like you're reading a comic book come to life.

But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom. "The Umbrella Academy" has a wicked sense of humor that will have you laughing even as you're cringing in horror. There are moments of absurdity and dark comedy that are just pure gold.

So if you're looking for a show that's as twisted as a Möbius strip and as funny as a clown funeral on Halloween, "The Umbrella Academy" is the perfect choice. Just be prepared to have your mind blown and your stomach turned inside out along the way.
