The first season of GITS SAC 2045 is so uneven and poorly written, that you can skip the first 5 episodes without losing a single plot point. The whole story could be summarized in 60 seconds of dialogue. The remainder six episodes are uneven, but enjoyable, except the last one. Now, the CGI is VERY distracting and subpar, with only a few highlights here and there. The producers made a poor choice leaving behind their wonderful ARISE hand-drawn animation style just to settle with a PS2-era garden-variety CGI fare. The music is intrusive and bombastic in many episodes, but there are a few good pieces in the last episodes. As the next season will keep the same look and plot, it's a shame this opportunity for a true GITS series is lost.

A ghost of its former self. I can get past the new animation style. Production cost will always be a factor. But the meat and bones of GITS has always been the deep concept exploration about consciousness, the potential and horror capable with technology, and the inclinations of those in power to control and commit atrocities.

There are moments where 2045 brushes up against those in meaningful ways, but the general concept of perpetual war and post-humans is presented so strong handedly that it overrides the subtleties that gave the show of the past the nuance and complexity that made it great. What we're left with is something clumsy and lacking in commentary not accomplished in generic scifi throughout. After the failure of arise, perhaps its time to put the ghost to its eternal rest.

This feels like a cheaper version of the original series. The writing isn't as great and it feels like it struggles to give any time to characters other than the main four. The new Batou fangirl is extra annoying too so she ends up being subtraction by addition. Its an uneven season with some okay high points but not many of them. I'm hopeful season 2 will get a better budget and up the stakes.

Season 2 is much better. I hope we get a season 3.

Looks not right, feels not right. Easy as that. If you enjoyed the original Movie you can easily skip this.

Why did they do 3D animation? This should have remained 2D even if it wasn't cell animation. They didn't even do a good job with the 3D animation. It is complete garbage. It looks like the cheap crap from 20 years ago, which sucked even back then.

The only thing I am excited about is they got the same voice actors in many cases, which is fantastic.

Crap animation style, crap story makes no sense. Giant story holes when it tries to tell you something.

From the beginning it sets itself as Nationalist Propaganda. And each of "4" is larger, painting the huge nation of Japan as "the little one". Bla bla bla. One should live for the others.

And the usual Japanese standard: the women have to be fit and half naked. The men, well, they are men.
