An excellent comedy, truly enjoyable, especially Joan Hackett's character. Actually, it feels pretty much like a modern TV pilot, as James Garner plays his character with the same easygoing manner as he did in "Maverick" (1957-62), and would reprise again in "Brett Maverick" (1981-82) and "Maverick" (1994). He was perfect for Westerns. This movie has a sequel of sorts, "Support Your Local Gunfighter", that I really recommend.
Dated but fun, it's still a great way to enjoy the "super competent" hero genre
Laughed a couple of times at some of the dialogue. Very forgettable movie, and not in the top tier of comedy westerns. It passed the time and was chiefly of interest to see Joan Hackett's performance, which in this was as a comic slapstick foil, so more physical than richly engaging. Now it looks as if made for TV. In fact in seems like an adrift episode, and this being one of the filler episodes to save money. Garner is a big plus to the enterprise and without him it would be even more unremarkable.
