Going into this film I didn’t know anything about by the looks of the trailer I thought it could be my type of thing and I wasn’t disappointed.

It definitely has the Groundhog Day slash happy death day vibe but more horror based I was definitely surprised how gory it was some brutal scenes and kills the parts where they blow up after drinking the water was bloody fantastic.

The whole plot is really fun to me and unique when the hourglass turns over you have to survive the night until it does otherwise you’ll be stuck there forever and turn into one of the creatures.

Have to say I wasn’t sure about the acting and characters at first but as the film went on I did like all of them a lot and wanted them to survive.

Do you wish we had some more backstory on why it was all happening we had some with the town’s mining disaster but not much with Hill but it doesn’t take much away from the film.

It was quite abit more scary than I imagined it to be not saying it’s like a scary all the way through because it’s not but the parts that are made me “shit myself “😂.

Very happy I decided to watch this definitely recommend it.

Really well executed. There is a lot to set up here and it is sort of rushed and kind of sloppy, but I respect the runtime because too many movies abuse that these days. The horror is well done as expected with Sandberg and there are some wonderful kills and gore. I think game people will be surprised after bitching about the adaptation based on the trailers. Let Sandberg do whatever he wants!

Really enjoyed watching this movie in theaters. I like the execution of the time loop and generally liked the direction the film went it. Gore did not feel gratuitous or unwarranted. Overall one of the better thriller horror movies I've seen.

Probably one of the best Video Games movies I have seen in a while. Curious if they will make another one so I can get confirmation if the killer wearing Josh's mask is him or not. He actually killed people which was odd to say the least that's for sure. The fact tho the girl still drank the water not questioning why it worked and still did was annoying. Still seeing the snip clip of the winter house proves this was a the first of many and maybe a precursor to the video game we shall see. Still definitely worth a watch and they adapted stuff well to the typical new Horror movie formula.

I was disappointed by the trailer that the movie didn’t appear to be anything like the game. However, it is definitely for fans of the game, I know now. After seeing the movie.
Playing the game I always thought it would make a great movie. This isn’t a great movie and the game is in fact scarier. It is fun though.
Fans of game should enjoy some of the locations and the creatures in it. There’s some good Easter eggs.
The movie is just sillier than the game and doesn’t really take itself serious enough. Alan Awake is also something promising as a movie. Like Until Dawn always was.
I wonder how bad Hollywood would mess that up.

I should start this review off by saying I have not played Until Dawn so I cannot comment on the comparison to this movie and it's source material, however from what I have heard they are not related at all except in setting. I do intend to play the game to see where it stacks up and just because it's supposedly a great game.

This movie is very well done, and I had a blast watching it, and upper echelon for a horror movie. The acting is good, especially coming from an unknown cast. The stakes are high which makes it thrilling to watch, and the
time loop element (which I'm not sure is in the game) makes it a very fun experience as we join them in the journey of figuring out how to escape.

The Wendigo's do make an appearance in the film and play a part, which fans of the game might like to see. However the ultimate villains are more of a Jason Vorhees/Slasher type which I personally believe is a hinderance to the film.
Ultimately fans of the game might have a different outlook on this movie based on the source material, but going in with the mindset of not comparing it to the source material may be the best option. It's a good standalone movie with the Until Dawn name slapped on it for popularity, which is not rare when it comes to horror franchises.

As a gamer I have sat through my fair share of terrible game adaptions. Going into Until Dawn I expected bad acting, cheesy plot, and an overall bad adaption. I left completely surprised as the movie was good! It’s not perfect by any means but it made me jump a couple time and I enjoyed the acting and the characters. The plot didn’t make any sense but overall I enjoyed the film.

Maybe it’s because I went into the movie with extremely low expectations but I actually kind of enjoyed Until Dawn. Yes the story is trash and its relationship to the game (which I love) is tenuous at best. However, I still found myself not really caring and just laughing at the over the top gory mess that I was presented with.

Like my score playing Space Invaders in the arcade: better than I expected but never really great.

That this is a movie based on a video game based on an escape room is so obvious that you'll catch yourself reaching out for the controller. While there are too many under-developed ideas that are included out of respect for the game (that I haven't played), the actors and the story are a level above medium and I caught myself having fun more than once.

Too repetitive and had pacing issues; I kept falling asleep through the movies, certain scenes were too dark for its own good, premise was good but delivery was bad; the game was more enjoyable
