American Psycho

I was going to right a review but I have some videtapes to return. Solid watch.

There’s a reason why Patrick Bateman has stayed in the zeitgeist for as long as he has.
This thing is absolutely hilarious, it’s so sharp and funny, sometimes even in the most subtle of ways.
I see many people calling it weird and aren’t able to make sense of it, but you need to have a good understanding of the 80s (and the culture on Wall Street in particular) in order to truly appreciate it.
Perfectly acted, perfectly made, bold, unpredictable, substantive, and completely one of a kind.

Ok, this movie is pure gold and let me tell you why.
If you expect horror - go for “psycho” not “american psycho”. This is rather dark comedy. If we got this straight let’s move on.
This movie is about a man who is basically product of his time in capitalist society in america and is (you guess that right) psycho.
He has a perfect routine but it’s just a facade he keeps since something inside him is missing. He needs to be the best and gets psychotic if he isn’t. Also he’s telling multiple times what he’s doing but he lives in a world where nobody’s listening they just see what they want to see. And everybody knows you but nobody remembers your face because they all are so full of themselves.
The movie is based on very controversial book which I also recommend if you want to get deeper altough they did amazing work with this movie. Everything is so good and cherry on top is a great actor’s performance.

One of my favorite movies, it's ridiculous and over the top. Definitely worth a watch.

Perhaps it's a commentary on yuppie culture, but I believe the larger view is just as valid an interpretation. Perhaps it's a result of viewing this film from the perspective of the 2020s, but as it's been true for many decades, I believe we can credit this great film as an allegory of the rape of the nation and its people by the powerful. That does not take away from the film's clear display of what that does to corrode the psyches of the rapists.

Brilliantly written and executed. Bale is phenomenal as he is in all of his challenging roles.

Gave this movie a 4 on my first watch and now it's a comfort movie and I'm obsessed with it. It grows on you like a fungus.

Christian Bale can do anything he wants. 10/10 acting.
