This was fun. Kinda awful, but very fun. I love a hot blonde who can kick ass. I love a bad girl who has the stereotype quirky coloured hair streaks and crop top. I love the evil bald guy. I love kyle maclachlan as the bad guy. This was very fun. I always loved spy stuff as a kid, this feels up that alley.

As far as B movies go I think this one was pretty entertaining! It had it's moments good and bad but I think for the most part it's a good quick flick.
Watched from Hulu.

**The ABC of _“The Librarian: Quest for the Spear”_**

**The Awesome**
Despite its amateurish script, _The Librarian_ is a bad movie in a hilariously entertaining way. It’s very difficult to take seriously and it is quite an enjoyable ride.
Nicole Noon is actually surprisingly badass as the heroine of the story and she’s at her best when she is allowed to act on her own.
The only actor who really seems to take his part seriously is **Kyle MacLachlan** ("Desperate Housewives") as the criminally (pun intended) underused villain.
The final battle is, in all its hilariousness, one of the better parts of the film.

**The Betwixt**
The cast does alright most of the time, but nobody stands out and some are outright horrible.
The bad guys are mostly useless and spend more time being amazed over how great the Librarian is than actually fighting him.
There is a whole lot of scientific babble that make little sense - but it does sound good.
There are some obvious _Indiana Jones_ rip offs, most notably the temple sequence towards the end.

**The Crappy**
**Noah Wyle** ("Scrubs") spends most of the film either overperforming or underperforming as well as blurting out pretentious lines.
There is no real chemistry between Wyle and **Sonya Walger** ("Lost").
Overall, the acting is wooden and unmotivated a lot of the time, and the worst offender is **Bob Newark** with his oddly staccato delivery of his lines.
The cast feels like it has been thrown together by a high school drama class to produce a Indiana Jones fan film.
The CGI is horríble even for a B-movie.
The feel of a low-budget TV show is present from the first moments and overshadows most of the film.
Some strange editing choices make some of the scenes confusing.
The script is hilariously childish and stupid and at times even clumsy, with several bizarre moments (magic?) that are never explained.
The pacing of several scenes is off - many introductions and expositions are longer than necessary, so the story hardly progresses. That’s no good in a 90-minute movie.
There are some horrible scenes, particularly the bridge crossing sequence.
The decision to put in a final big twist when there is 15 minutes left of the movie really doesn’t do it for me.

Coldstream's review is spot on. But I'd add that if you simply _must_ watch this to just skip the entire first and second acts and jump straight to Kyle McLachlan's introduction. It does start taking on a "so bad it's good" quality, but, IMO, not until that point. Before that it's just unbelievably bad in every way, with embarrassingly cringey dialog and acting.

All you need to know is that this guy is a complete loser who never did anything with his life but get degree after degree without using them, and then he meets imperious Sonya with Kung Fu grip and she proceeds to be the Dolph Lundgren to his Courtney Cox.

Okay, confession time: I watched the entire series of _The Librarians_ before completing this film. Many years ago, I tried watching this and ended up losing interest about halfway through it. Despite the fact that it was out of order, I'm actually glad I watched it that way...because I don't think I would have even bothered with _The Librarians_ if I had seen this mess first.

As a longtime reader, fantasy fan, and current library employee, you'd probably think this is right up my alley...but it isn't, because this telefilm is downright absurd, especially its finale. The nonsensical plot seems like something out of a video game than a book, and some of the scenes were just ridiculous: Bob Newhart beating up bad guys? Seriously? Also, the content issues were disappointing; while I expected violence and occasional profanity, I wasn't prepared for slight bloodshed, a WWE-style catfight, and especially a scene implying sex. The latter two, along with the villainess' outfit, seemed to be merely there to appeal to male viewers.

If you're completely unfamiliar with the _Librarian_ franchise, start with the TV series, not this garbage. Now, I'm unsure whether or not to continue with the next two movies, despite the fact that they're currently sitting on my shelf.
