One of the sweetest movies ever made. This adaptation is just so precious. Macfadyen IS Darcy; and the soundtrack is so incredibly beautiful, I always get teary eyed listening to it.

This will forever be one of the most romantic movies in existence❤
The way she overcomes her prejudices, and he overcomes his pride all so they can finally see the other for who they truly are will never stop being beautiful to me.
Not to mention, Mr. Darcy’s socially awkward but lovingly adamant pursuit of the sarcastically independent Lizzie is just so insanely precious and adorable. This man would do anything for her, no questions asked, and if that’s not the most swoon-worthy thing that could possibly be said about a man who’s in love then I don’t know what is.
Also, the way this movie (and book, of course) masterfully engages with such clever dialogue and witty remarks will never stop being an absolute delight to behold. Moreover, this is not in the least made even better by the beautiful and genuine performances of every actor involved, supremely skillful script writers and stunning cinematography that perfectly strengthens the magic of every scene!

I have watched this movie so many times. It is my favorite adaptation of my favorite book. So many actors have played Elizabeth and Darcy and so many adaptations in original version, let alone changed pieces for modern eras. But none do the novel the justice that this one does.

Matthew Macfadyen is the perfect Darcy to Keira Knightley's Elizabeth.

The directing is on spot with fantastic scenes and landscapes. Also excellent attention to details to actual period wardrobe of the times when the book was written. There wasn't a mismatched actor to any of the roles and the chemistry between the characters and their respective actors really is a magnificent compliment to one of the greatest love stories ever written.

10/10.

"You have bewitched me body and soul"
I will never get tired of watching this movie.
Yes, they changed things from the book (I will never get tired of reading it) but it's still wonderful.

I don’t believe I had never seen this movie, even though I thought I had seen every TV or Film version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (of course, I’ve read the book). Not being an avid fan of either Keira Knightly or Matthew Macfadyen, I probably would not have seen it had friends not invited me over to a movie night. But, boy, am I glad they did. The cast has some of the brightest lights of UK talent, some just finding their light (Image, casting Carey Mulligan to giggle for two hours.) Brenda Blethyn was transformative as Mrs, Bennet and of course, the only Canuck in the cast, Donald Sutherland, did us proud as Mr Bennet. But, what I couldn’t get over was the cinematography and the directing. I know it was nominated for 4 Oscars but I have no idea why it didn’t carry away both of those awards. And the music, exquisite. It was spectacular even down to the minutest detail. The continuous unbroken shot of the opening scene and later at the ball were masterful. I give the film a 10 (stunningly executed) out of 10. (Classical Drama). Available on Netflix

FIVE STARS
If it’s on, I’m watching. That’s the rule. And this film is the rule.
A masterpiece that lives in memory, language, and harmony—eternally rewatchable and deeply personal.

Musical Influence & Emotional Resonance
• The score—achingly simple, devastatingly beautiful—unlocked something in me. It leans into early classical chromaticism with grace, inviting dissonance not as error, but as arrival.
• When I bought the piano score, I discovered a new language in my own hands. That single half-step—played “wrong,” then made right—transformed my jazz and improvisation permanently.
• Dario Marianelli’s piano theme doesn’t just accompany the film; it completes it.

Visual Language
• The compositions mirror the music: vanishing lines, candlelight, mist, and dawn.
• Rosings, Pemberley, and Longbourn breathe with authenticity—clothes slightly wrinkled, skin slightly oily, and nothing polished beyond what’s real.
• This is not museum Austen. It’s lived-in and luminous.

Characters & Casting Reconsidered
• Matthew Macfadyen was, at first, no Firth. Aloof. Unromantic. But time wears away expectations, and his Darcy now feels embedded in the landscape, part of the soil and sky.
• Keira Knightley, once a jolt from Jennifer Ehle’s softer edges, has grown in power with each rewatch. Her Elizabeth is fire and thought, grit and grace.
• And Mr. Collins—ah. It took years for me to see him differently. Earnest, socially off-kilter, possibly autistic. Not malicious, just misaligned. He too is worthy of dignity.

Favorite Performance
• Donald Sutherland’s Mr. Bennet is the still point in the turning world. His quiet, unflinching love for his daughter—especially in that final blessing—never fails to undo me.
• It is, for me, the finest work of his career.

The Climax
• That final walk—Darcy crossing the moor at dawn, Elizabeth mirroring him, both lost in morning mist and heartache—is one of the greatest romantic resolutions in cinema.
• The music builds with restraint: a single piano note repeating over a cushion of strings. No words. Just clarity. Just peace. Just love.

Meets
Not applicable. Pride and Prejudice (2005) is the definitive adaptation for our era.

Keira Knightley's a complete delight onscreen, and the soundtrack, cinematography and screenplay work like a charm. A spectacular experience.
