Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie film ever made. I love the mall setting, I love Tom Savini's gore, I love the zombie that gets the tip of his head cut off by the helicopter, I love the clearing out the mall scenes, I love that the film reminds me of the Dead Rising games, I like the cast, I like the way the movie ends, I like that we just follow these people through their adventure. I really enjoy the soundtrack. I just really love Dawn of the Dead.
I don't know what I can say about Dawn of the Dead that hasn't been said before but I do know if there is one Zombie movie I would recommend everyone if they don't want to watch black and white movies, Dawn of the Dead is the one for you!
Saw this as a kid on Betamax when it came out and loved it then, and 46 years later it is still the greatest zombie film ever made. An absolute classic. The satiric music that accompanies the zombies works perfectly and makes this film one of a kind.
I watched the Cannes extended cut 139m and enjoyed it from beginning to end. 10/10.
My favourite horror of all time! Still holds its own 45 plus years on against todays horrors.
If you call yourself a horror fan and you haven't seen the original Dawn of the Dead, you need to get with the program immediately! No one messes with Romero, no one!
I saw this when it came out and it blew my mind. Such a great Zombie movie. I grew up in malls so it really hit the spot for me. What a dream to be living out the zombie apocalypse with your buddies in your own private fortified mall.
What kind of people behave that way? They are all sentimentalists, even the military. For other hand, Roger and looters' behavior is totally unreal. They act like children going crazy and committing misses again and again.
This is a bigger and better sequel to Night of the Living dead. The effects and gore and a lot better. The zombies look a lot more dead but maybe that is just because it is in color. The music can be crazy at times where it is almost a comedy. The setting is much more fun. I think the best parts of the movie are when they are just going around the mall and taking things. It is a very interesting concept, what would you do in a mall by yourself? My only problem is it is too long and they take too long to get to the mall.
It's unfortunate that it's become so hard to find this movie physically or digitally. I first watched this many years ago via Netflix, and was lucky enough to find the complete edition on YouTube so I could rewatch.
The shorter version is definitely good for an initial watch, with the longer version nice for a bit more insight into what zombie/walking dead movies were about, before so many used them to make media.
HTE classic Zombie movie. A must for fans
