I was quite impressed that Margaret Qualley (and some of the extras) agreed to be hyper-sexualised in exactly the way that this movie criticises it.

I F$c&i@g love this movie !!! The best of the year… I think is like a mix between the Neon Demon and Malignant !! And Demi Moore deserves a nomination !

Why do the nastiest movies always look the most enchanting? This was an absolutely bonkers experience. The hype is definitely real, and this movie is so freaking hot and disgusting at the same time while being so much more, I just loved it. Demi Moore killed it!

Absolutely insane. An immensely, unstoppably, ecstatically demented fairy tale about female self-hatred.Demi was extraordinary. It will be one of the most memorable movies ever.

What a great film this was, I was very impressed.

But man, definitely one of the grossest films I've seen in a while, there is one moment in particular (you definitely know the one I'm talking about) extremely gross, to the point where I've had to cover my eyes as I struggled to watch it, that's right... Dennis Quaid eating Shrimps.

>*"You wanna see some jurassic fitness? You want it? Come on, come get your fucking jurassic fitness!"*

It's pheeeenomenal! I needed something positive after a bad day of binge watching the questionnable nominations for the Oscars. We get the same movies every year basically but ***The Substance*** is unique and I'm so happy to see horror being praised. This movie was made for me! Coralie Fargeat called me and asked me what I wanted in a movie. I answered and she said "alright" and cranked it up to eleven. ***The Substance*** is one of the craziest movies i've ever seen and it earns it's place among the best horror movies of all-time for me.

Screw dialogue, you can tell everything through imagery and symbolism. So much is said about body image, getting old, how media sees older women, beauty standards, validation, relevance... even though the themes are really in your face all of the time. It's a movie that's very literal and to the point, exaggerated and over-the-top so it makes sense that the themes are shoved down your throat. Just like the extreme camera close ups and hypersexualization, it's too much at times and it's all part of the point. At least that's how I choose to see it.

I really hope Demi Moore gets that Oscar because she absolutely killed it. The 'getting dressed before the date' scene was so powerful, I get tears in my eyes every time. I felt what she felt and i'm not even a woman. It's perfect casting because I can imagine she's gone through this, it's such a genuine and intimate performance.

I love the sci-fi concept here, strongly inspired by *Death Becomes Her* I believe but it's on steroids. They did an excellent job at explaining the mechanics even if there's a few plot holes here and there. The kit she got in the box was so realistic and sealed the deal with the concept.

This movie gives a whole new meaning to the words prosthetics and practical effects. It's amazing what was achieved here, they kept one-upping themselves in every act. *The Fly* has some competition for best body horror of all-time. The Monstro Elisasue costume deserves an award and so does the one in the second act. I looked away at the teeth sequence and all those needles are not fun to look at either. *Terrifier 3* kept selling itself as the "bloodiest movie of the year" but that's a freakin lie and they know it, they used 21 500 liters of blood here.

The camerawork and the editing is phenomenal, it makes everything so engaging. Brilliant use of colors and lighting. Perfect set design. The score works so well. I went through so many emotions watching this and it keeps reinvigorating itself by changing the tone, I love that over-the-top camp comedy third act. My jaw was on the ground and I couldn't stop laughing at the same time. Didn't feel the runtime at all, loved every second, didn't want it to end. Between this and *Revenge*, i'm dying to see what Coralie Fargeat does next.
