Let me start by saying, it's a good movie. There are many movies in this genre. It was a mistake to leave the woman alone in the house. The events that followed were good. The plot and acting were also good. If you want to watch a horror movie, definitely watch it. I think the sack head fell in love with this woman in the last scene. I felt so sorry for Ryan. At least he was able to propose. They showed that there would be a sequel in the last scene. Thank you for your efforts.

I know this film will get a lot of hate and I understand why. These are not always everyone's thing, they also can be hit and miss with fans, but I enjoyed the slow burn and build. I liked the creep factor of people in your home and for me, it's another solid addition to the franchise. Roll on the sequel.

The first movie will forever hold a place in my heart, and I will always be excited for more sequels. The concept is genuinely scary and that makes it slightly unnerving to watch. The biggest issue with this film is that it does not really do much to add to the previous films. It wasn't different enough like the second, and ultimately falls to the wayside of the first. I suppose what it does have going is that other sequels are coming? Hoping they build it out to stand on its own.

Yeah, it is a cliche. But well executed cliche.

While it’s basically the first movie (but worse) the ending has me interested in seeing where they take this next.

Huh… so, [spoiler] I thought they would do like an ‘origins’ story for the strangers (I didn’t watch the trailers) but it’s just the original movie in another setting lmao bar for bar. Kinda get that the small town plot was to let us know those ppl are definitely involved but there was just no pay off, ugh, still, it was tense, so I’ll give it a 6. Nothing new, original is better. The movie was decent overall, but they missed a huge chance to make it truly gripping and could've amped up the tension significantly. The cast is beautiful, which is a crucial element for me in horror, so that aspect worked well. However, the biggest blunder was not having the lead girl reveal her body. This was such a misstep that I’m only giving it 6 points. It easily would've earned two more if she had at least bared her chest. For me, the film sits at a 5, but I’m adding one more point because she’s absolutely gorgeous. If she had shown more, which feels almost essential in a horror movie of this type with such an attractive lead, I’d have happily boosted the score by another two points.

I know this is a rehash but I quite like it. There were enough elements different from the original (loving the piano sequence) and I’m intrigued as to where this trilogy is going. Worth 90 minutes of your time … lights out, curtains drawn and volume up :-)

They copied the first movie and it was a disaster. Imagine when they start creating their own story in chapter 2….

Despite a few horror clichés and some brief moments of poor writing, The Strangers: Chapter 1 is quite effective. The story is tense, the sound design is dynamic, and the pace is perfect. With a few tweaks, this film could've been great. As is, it's still superior to many in the genre.
