It's basically a mishmash of a bunch of different sci-fi stories, namely things like Mad Max and Escape from New York. It's a formula that works well, so for the most part it's pretty decent, it just doesn't do much new. It's basically like an old episode of Xena or Hercules. Fun, but disposable.
