This movie must of been difficult to make from a story by H P Lovecraft. It is dated cgi, but if you are a fan of Reanimator and/or From Beyond, this one could be a gem for you as well. It was hard for me to get through the first 20 minutes but once the story starts to flow, it becomes a pure horror story and nightmare.

The only thing weighing this one down is the lousy CG, which isn't all that prominent in the film, but it does bog it down. Other than that, I love almost everything here: the Spanish seaside town atmosphere, the decent special effects (mostly), and I even love the shaky acting. I have not personally read Dagon, but I have read The shadow over Innsmouth, which feels comparable. I would say that if you love movies with a good atmosphere and are willing to forgive some shoddy effects, this is the one for you. 3 ½ stars.

Ok if you’re a movie buff that sees movies as art, than you’ll love this movie and have lots of appreciation for it. It’s a perfect independent “B” rated horror film. Now on the flip side if you’re the kind of person who goes to all the big movie theaters for the hottest and newest Michael Bay film, than this is definitely not for you.

Enjoyable and great overall filmmaking, but the B-grade attempt at a Jeffrey Combs main lead just really couldn't hold this together or anywhere in the same quality. Don't know that I'd really watch this again, but it was fun for a one time through.

Pretty dope little horror flick. One of the better Lovecraft adaptations. They need to make more Sea creature movies...

I think Gordon shot this movie well, but the story wasn't interesting enough.

The dated CGI certainly brings down the final act of Dagon, however the rest of the movie was quite interesting. It does reinforce the notion that Lovecraft's work is almost unable to be adapted to the big screen, but this was certainly a decent effort.

Not really worth a watch, but if you're a die hard fan of the Lovecraft and the Abyss he so mentioned, then you might probably enjoy it if there's nothing else to watch.
