>Beauty is like war, it opens doors.

Be prepared for **a lot** of dialog equally and even more ridiculous.

_Parthenope_ is like a butcher's display counter: it shows off meat in the best light possible.

This over-long perfume ad is giving 'creepy old dude preying on an unforgivably beautiful ingenue' vibes.

So, why do I 'like' it? Because the cinematography is frequently impressive, the jazz soundtrack is more than decent and, most of all, it reminds me of my own, shit fiction: a preponderance of superfluous adjectives.

Isn't something I'd typically watch but Gary Oldman was in it, so I had to. We follow the life of a girl named after the Italian city she was born in, 'Parthenope'. The closest thing I can describe it to is poetry that grabs you for its harsh perspective and serenades you with its ease. Just like how the directing, cinematography and score capture and exploit exactly what you're thinking of. From birth to death, the main motifs surround age and the change it brings to even people who have 'everything'. Quotes hit so unbelievably hard, I'd make a list but I'd be here all day. I just wish it had something other than its lessons because the runtime makes itself very noticeable.

While I didn't particularly like it, I think most of the reviews are missing one focal point in this movie. That is not about beauty per se, but it’s about Napoli.
Napoli is beautiful, but unexpressed most of the time, and all the stories are the different faces of the city.
But even understanding this won't make it a good movie in my opinion, as most of the time seem more focused on cinematographic display of skills, more than providing the viewer the means to look into the city hidden places.
I loved what he did for “la grande bellezza” with Rome, and unfortunately I don't think he got to that level in this movie.

Where exactly is the fantasy? Personally, I couldn't see anything other than the woman's search for herself. A mediocre movie made with the logic of putting a beautiful woman in it, being emotional and nothing else. I guess they wrote fantasy because the name of the movie is Water Fairy. Funny.
