This is a timeless romantic comedy and one of my all time favorites. An iconic film that tells the story of Vivian Ward, a charming and charismatic prostitute played by Julia Roberts, who captures the heart of Edward Lewis, a wealthy businessman played by Richard Gere.

The chemistry between Roberts and Gere is undeniable, and their romance is both passionate and poignant. It has a memorable soundtrack and who can forget Vivian's iconic red dress?

It is more than just a romantic comedy - it's a film about self-discovery, empowerment, and the transformative power of love. With its witty dialogue, charming performances, and nostalgic value, it's no wonder that this remains one of the most beloved films of all time.

If you haven't seen it before, do yourself a favor and watch it. If you have seen it before, watch it again - it's a film that only gets better with time.

Okay, so the chemistry between the two leads was insane, and Julia Roberts’ character was honestly so cool and sweet and gorgeous, but also; I LOVED THE HOTEL MANAGER SO MUCH! He was the absolute cutest

Lots of fun, but I will never not get stuck on the fact that he is 40 and she is 22. That alone means this will never be the perfect romcom.

Even though Pretty Woman features a somewhat outdated premise — one that might be a guilty pleasure for some — I’d argue it still holds up as a good, fun, and undeniably successful story. At its core, it plays on the classic "rich man, poor girl" trope, but with a twist: the poor girl is a hooker. It’s easy to see why this particular chick flick draws criticism, but it also has a charm that’s hard to ignore.

The story doesn’t rely on the false innocence of a "redeemable" girl being swept away from her "bad choices." Instead, the arrangement is transactional and transparent from the start. Both characters know exactly what they’re getting into, and the magic lies in what unfolds: a story of unbridled love blossoming in the least likely of circumstances.

Yes, the plot is as predictable as any romcom—you’re here for the "will they, won’t they," the laughs, and the drama. And on those terms, Pretty Woman delivers. It’s no surprise it became one of the most iconic romantic comedies of all time, earning nearly half a billion dollars despite (or perhaps because of) the controversy surrounding it then—and even now.

At the heart of it all is Julia Roberts, who is, unsurprisingly, the soul of the film. Her charisma and warmth drive the narrative, making her performance the standout. Richard Gere is an excellent counterpart, and the supporting cast adds just the right touch to round out the story.

A classic due to the excellent acting performances of Gere and Roberts. Do not think too hard about the base story. Just enjoy the charming Julia Roberts.
