Monster Inside: America's Most Extreme Haunted House

Not the first documentary on McKamey Manor that I have seen, so the viewing lost a bit of luster. Still incredibly interesting for those that do not know about it yet.

having participated in both what someone in the documentary called boo haunts and a more immersive house that required a waiver, if you're looking to watch this for footage of immersive/extreme haunted houses you're not going to get it. if you want to see what those are like you should just attend one! there's a huge range of intensity out there to fit your comfort level. this is essentially just people exposing a man engaging in torture fetish behavior under the guise of immersive horror, aka a complete scam. the footage is really more sad than anything else, because it makes it clear that what this man was doing wasn't at all immersive horror and despite signing a "waiver" (that would never hold up in court) these people were non-consenting participants.

my three main takeaways:

1. i dislike the clickbait title, it's pretty unfair to legitimate haunted house tours

2. i feel like some of the people in this would probably benefit from getting involved in the bdsm community and trying out non-sexual kink.

3. i do appreciate how the end illustrated the way immersive horror can be done ethically and responsibly for anyone who could still be confused about the line between that and whatever fetish behavior russ engages in

Finally a full film on the McKamey manor to better understand what exactly it is. However, after this film I still don't have a good understanding of how exactly the McKamey Manor works, as it was basically just a documentary on extreme haunted houses and the type of person people think Russ is or isn't and the dissection of that. But outside of the McKamey part, this was fascinating and entertaining to learn from different people their take on extreme haunted houses being somewhat therapeutic. It was a clever way of filming to introduce different people as different versions of the subject.

I saw another documentary about this guy several years ago and it seems like now he's just stepped it up into just torturing people by himself. I eventually foresee this guy ending up in jail. I mean it doesn't even look like he posts videos on Youtube anymore, so I'm sure he just sits at his computer watching these with his pants down.
