The Apprentice

A young Donald Trump, eager to make his name as a hungry scion of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn, the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today. Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé—someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

The saddest part about this is American people no longer care about the character of the president. No matter how bad he is, people still follow. Basically a cult following.

I thought the actors were great portraying the different parts. If people doubt this is true goto: https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2024/10/12/apprentice-movie-true-story-donald-trump/75554706007/

Sebastian Stan killed it! He should get the Oscar! Also Jeremy Strong for best supporting actor!

Okay this was amazing. The Trump expressions and everything were on point!
I also loved the music, it was great. The 70s & 80s settings looked believable. Loved this movie!

The film portrays a period in the 1980s, focusing on the New York real estate market and the relationship between Donald Trump and his lawyer Roy Cohn, a crucial figure in building Trump's fortune at the time. The narrative is presented without romanticizations or omissions, resembling a documentary, with explicit and controversial dialogues, raw images and close-up cameras that provide a deep immersion in the environment. The frenetic editing sets an intense pace, complemented by an exceptional soundtrack. The highlights of the movie are the impressive performances by Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, who show meticulous attention to every detail and expression, significantly enhancing the realistic experience of the film.

This film was utterly brilliant from start to finish. The acting was definitely the best part and led by two extraordinary performances.

A man should at least be kind, unfortunately Donald Trump is not. Thank Sebastian for presenting us with a cruel, egotistical, cold-blooded Trump who may really want to try to make America great again, but this is probably not about justice and people, but about satisfying his arrogance.

>"The first rule is the simplest: Attack, attack, attack.
Rule two: Admit nothing, deny everything.
Rule three: This is the most important rule of all. No matter what happens, no matter what they say about you, no matter how beaten you are—you claim victory and never admit defeat."

What a ride. Supervillain origin story; student becomes the master.

Jeremy Strong's head-bobbing, idiosyncratic, amoral Roy Cohn is an all-time great villain (yet I somehow found myself sympathizing with him towards the end?). Sebastian Stan is fantastic as always, embodying the transformation from bashful, ineffectual nepo baby to ruthless, unfeeling killer. Maria Bakalova brings a touch of humanity to the unbridled greed, selfishness and moral relativism which surround her.

The 70s 16mm cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, the 80s videotape format less so.

An important slice of Donald Trump’s life, showcasing how his character was shaped and stabilized by his mentor Roy Cohn, and how he sacrificed everything in the pursuit of success. Excellent acting by Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong

You may wonder how accurate it all is but that is the case at almost all biotopics. As a film, very good and Sebastian Stan starts to look more and more like Trump as the film progresses. Very cleverly done for someone who looks nothing like him.

I think it's lazy to say this was put out to try to influence election results for November 2024, this was being produced as early as 2018. It stayed in production hell because of Trump lol. I actually think this is a charitable 8 by me, I love Strong's acting and I think Stan's Trump is amazing, but what story is there to really tell. It says everything that an independent biopic about Trump feels vacuous and one-dimensional. We know the story, and when we dig deeper all we find is a tale devoid of anything substantial.
Lust, greed, gluttony, revenge, and most of all, power. It's all there is for him.
