I was on a voice call with my sweetheart and mentioned I watched this, and he asked me what it was about, and I got to the ‘plan A to Y’ part before he told me to stop, he had to watch it with me because it sounded too funny, so a ringing endorsement.

Tight, distilled SpongeBob. Everything great about this show is delivered in a perfect package. The wit, the silliness, the wry tongue in cheek awareness. It’s no wonder the show never reached these heights again: there was nowhere to go but down. Hillenberg did everything he wanted to with it, and the movie was the capstone to it all. To watch this movie is to have a constant smile for an hour and a half.

Used to be a pretty big Spongebob fan so this movie came out at the perfect time for me to enjoy it! Very funny and colourful!

Easily the best of the three movies with plenty of laughs and charm.

"Too bad SpongeBob isn't here to enjoy SpongeBob not being here."

I never really watched SpongeBob as a kid. I know about SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton, I know the song and I did always love the energy but I never sat down to really watch it. Seeing that the first SpongeBob movie was on tv today I just couldn't resist and I liked it!

That scene on top of David Hasselhoff? Brilliant. Dennis? Amazing. Goofy Goober Rock? Catchy! Plankton's plan Z was a great plan but in the end SpongeBob and Patrick came through! However I did want to see a bit more of Squidward. But those damn pirates at the cinema made up for it a tiny bit!

Anyway if you want to have a fun saturday morning, watch the SpongeBoB SquarePants Movie. It will surprise you and leave you behind with a smile!

This is peak SpongeBob, pure distilled magic from the golden age of the show. It captures the energy, charm, and surreal humor of the early seasons and successfully stretches it into a full-length film without losing the soul. The story’s simple but imaginative, the animation’s clean and iconic, and the whole vibe feels like a love letter to fans. It’s nostalgic, silly in the best way, and totally essential for anyone who ever loved SpongeBob before the show lost its edge.
