Endless Summer Syndrome

When the mother of two adoptees is tipped off about the possible affair her husband may be having with one of their children, her sense of duty takes a macabre turn.

An interesting film, with some cleverly placed moments of suspense (though a few surprises were dulled by spoilers). The summery European countryside atmosphere that runs through the whole film is genuinely captivating.
The story itself is hard to judge—perhaps it’s best to say the French have stayed true to their characteristic sense of self. Still, the pacing is great, and the attention to detail and payoff of the foreshadowing are well-executed.
That said, the opening interrogation scene could’ve been trimmed down a bit more, and leaving the ending fully open might have made it even more thought-provoking.
And honestly, that refined yet wickedly charming European dad— really is irresistible. Who wouldn’t be swayed?
Summer’s coming… and now I want to go back to Europe again…
