It’s quite adventurous visually, perfectly capturing the more experimental side of the band during this time. I’d say this movie is at its best whenever it finds creative ways to present some of the Beatles’ greatest hits (not all of the new songs made specifically for the movie are great). Unfortunately, the sum of its parts doesn’t add up to all that much for me. It barely pays any attention to structure, plotting or characters, and while this might make sense in the context of keeping everything intentionally psychedelic and abstract, I didn’t feel that much emotion besides the strong psychedelic vibe its constantly putting out. Definitely a strong case of style over substance.
