Such a unique film, so dreamy and yet so grounded. I fall in love with this every time I see it. 67%, trakt.tv community, you must be insane.

This movie is one of the few movies that I think is an excellent adaptation of a book, even if it's based on a children's book. I find the message behind this movie very nice for kids and adults, and this movie can be watched and enjoyed by any age.

I think many people will identify with this kid, who seems to be quite a loner and experiences the many emotions we all feel. His imagination is not all too different from reality. It's a very enjoyable film throughout.

This is a good movie but I'm not sure if it's a good kids movie. I don't know if kids are going to get all the themes this movie is going for. They might just like seeing the beasts. The effects on all the beasts are really well done.

A mixed bag from beginning to end. The family drama at the beginning was an interesting emotional start and I felt for that kid, decent character. Then the odd and scary *Monsters Inc.* creatures show up and I was intrigued for a while. Looks like they mixed CGI with actual people wearing costumes and the result looks great. The thing is, they're entertaining visually but their personalities feel forced and half-baked. Any drama between them is melodramatic and illogical, they argue about the dumbest things. The story is character focused on top of that so I gotta say I was bored. Max is the only interesting character even if he's pretty basic. The movie feels aimless for a while but then there's an interesting turn and you think it'll get interesting but they don't do anything with it for more than two minutes. Wasted potential, it got on the verge of turning into horror several times but it never really gets there. Not as emotional as it thinks it is in those final moments but the ending after that was better. Some good choices with the songs and score. Good looking movie overall, lots of natural landscapes and those wooden structures looked like a hard job to build.

Visually interesting, otherwise a slog to watch, do not recommend unless you are a die-hard fan of the book.

What the fuck is happening. Every creature gets mad at each other for stupid shallow things and everyone just fights? Great premise for a movie. Not to mention the mascots look creepy, and not in a good way.

Their actions don’t line up with anything and everyone is just pissed off. Carol is a baby, everyone else except Douglas is terrible. Irritating to watch and pointless.
