A masterpiece in adventure. A better Indiana Jones movie than the original Indiana Jones.

CG rock was aweful but other than that it was amazing.

I think I enjoy this film just as much as the first. Still grips me the same and isn't overly repetitive which is good.

Apart from the bad CGI, The Mummy Returns is just as entertaining as the first one, if not just a tiny bit more. Rachel Weisz is also a bit...err...more. Actually, everything is a tiny bit "more". The action, the adventure, the story...everything.

So...does that mean I hold this one in a higher regard than the first? No, not exactly. To me, these two come as a pair. You can't have one without the other.

So...great movie, and certainly one to enjoy from time to time, but...not without its predecessor.

This film is a pure definition of "the same, only different". It retains the charm of the original but tweak certain elements to prevent it from being a total rehash.

This movie gave us the gift if a terrible CGI Rock on a scorpion body and I love it for that. Not quite as good as the first and kinda feels too similar but still a lot of fun.

'The Mummy Returns' feels to me to be a downgrade on the original, though I still gained the desired entertainment from it. There is an absolute barrage of special effects used in this though, I said in my previous review about it aging badly - it's worse here.

I still wouldn't say that the below par effects affected my enjoyment terribly much, like last time, but due to the (what felt like) increase of its usage it definitely becomes a bit of an eyesore this time out. The Scorpion King towards the conclusion looks particularly poor, I gotta say.

Cast-wise, I could copy and paste what I said about the 1999 flick. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are good together, I like the addition of their son (played well by Freddie Boath) into the mix. Also in my review of 'The Mummy', I noted that I wanted more of Oded Fehr, well I got that wish delivered here.

Quite interesting to see Dwayne Johnson appear as The Scorpion King, a character (and therefore franchise; five of them!) that I never knew existed until very recently. Given Johnson's upward acting trajectory since these films, I assume he didn't appear in all of those other spin-offs; I'll soon find out, intrigued to watch 'em either way.

Almost as good as the 1999 first movie of the series. Still excellent entertainment.

With the established formula and characters, this one picks up where the first left off. It is another enjoyable film that takes you on an adventure! Not quite to the standard of the first, but still solid.

Rating: 3/5 - 75% - Worth Watching
