Earth Girls Are Easy

In this musical comedy, Valerie is dealing with her philandering fiancé, Ted, when she finds that a trio of aliens have crashed their spaceship into her swimming pool. Once the furry beings are shaved at her girlfriend's salon, the women discover three handsome men underneath. A cult classic truly captures the MTV look and feel. Funny, but not as good as it could have been. Entertaining, colorful, but WEIRD. Worth a look, but won't sink in because is is all froth.

Hilarious! This fun little gem stars the young Jim Carey, Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans as aliens and Geena Davis as the earthly woman of interest with a few musical numbers. The music and fashion are as 80s as it can get; and the romantic chemistry between the characters are relatable. I found myself laughing an giggling all the way because of how corny and cheesy it is. It's pretty much like an _In Living Color_ skit extended to a full-length feature.
There's also footage of the original French live-action _La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast)_ (1946) in one of the trippy sequences which I own the Criterion Blu-ray of and have been thinking about lately. In a way, that relates to how Geena Davis' character, Valerie, is like Belle while Jeff Goldblum's alien character, Mac, is like the Beast.
