Great movie. I don't see why this movie has only 45% rating here on trakt. A rating somewhere in the 70% would be more fair in my opinion. I enjoyed watching it.
This movie does have its faults. The story is not entirely true to the original poem, its been Hollywoodnized. But really, how many people can say they read the original 12 centuries old poem before they saw the movie? The main character Beowulf lacked emotion and character and only in the end when he is dying on the beach do we get to see a glimmer of emotion when he realized he killed the only son he had.
Still if you compare this movie to the other one made by Robert Zemeckis earlier with the same technique called Motion capture, The Polar Express than this one is better in my opinion.
Had a decent time catching up on this movie. I'm surprised how well the animation is holding up. the slight uncanny valley even contributes to the unsettling atmosphere of this movie. I don't mind the re-writing of the oldest known poem, but at least they could've put some more effort to the ending part.
Angelina Jolie
was underused and the conflict resolution unsatisfying, to say the least.
Tells the classic legend of Beowulf in a top of the line 3d rendered movie for the time. Worth the watch
Just not my cup of tea. The animation was a little creepy. Not quite Scanner Darkly but still a bit strange.
