Satantango

If you need 7+ hours and an abused cat to tell this asinine story than you are not a very good storyteller/filmmaker. What a waste of time.

[Filmin, 4K Restoration] Cows. Poverty. Land. "Don't read Genesis; read Revelation." Rain. Communism. Mud. "The rain destroys everything." Tango. The dance of the poor is tango. "My father is the sea, my mother is the land, my name is Tango". Long takes. Time stopped. Bells. "Futaki woke up to the sound of the bells." Despair. Cinema. Masterpiece.

Felt shorter than The Turin Horse.
Watch in a cinema not at home.

First time seeing such a long movie. Starts very dark and slow. very different.

Movie starts with "dedicated to alf bold". Alf Bold is longtime co-worker with Ulrich Gregor, i think from berlin film festival.

In first hour, in cafe when people look they were frozen. It was a hard scene. Then irimias and other person said "we will explode everywhere". Soemthing like that. before that, police officer wanted them as informant. Because they are guilty. I dont know what there is crimes are.

The doctor who only writes is different character. Some paranoaid. I could not understand if he is agent or informant also. ort how he got money. Then we saw he did not jhave money and was very sick. Almost dead. He was sitting at home in thick clothers. Itm ust be so cold.

AFter the part of doctor, i understood this movie is collectons of different short movies. Characters are not connected. As i saw. But then they are connected somehow. The kid sees doctor near tavern and we see the scenes from doctor's part where doctor falls ground.

Mrs schmidt came to the bar. The owner of bar says "Halics cant imagine what happened to your husband." What happened? In frst part, they would escape with money? But then in next parts, in same bar/tavern, she is with husband and other guy. So , nothing happened?

In the second hour, the clock sound in the back -i think it is from clock- is giving a nice ambition in the bar. But maybe it is coming from heater.

Genesis. Sodom and gomorra. I did not know about those.

Approaching to end of 3. hour, the kid with cat had disturbing scenes. He was really hurting the cat. BEcause of scenearion, because of the writer and director! That is why i will give 2/10.

In the tavern, that drunk person keeps speaking, "i was walking,walking." and so on. He plays nice. I think noone believes in him. But it seems irimias and petrinal would explode somewhere.

Sometimes it is hard to understand if they are standing without speaking, moving or it is just a picture. Just like where they were standing in front of dead body of the kid. The cat killer kid.

Irimias said little sense, most nonsense things at funeral of the cat killer kid. People gave money. But they did not record who gave how much money. It was nonsense also. In next parts, kraner wanted money back but how would anyone know how much to give?

Around 4 hour 42 minutes, they were about to move. Probably to new place irimias told about. Before leaving, they broke all stuff they left behind. Such cruelty! Someone could take them because.

I could not see irimias's partner for last 1-2 hours. But then i saw him in next part. He was walking to the new center with irimias and other person. They saw horses also.

Musics are great mostly. From usually a single instrument.

I could not understand why they moved with irimias to that place. To be safe, to live as collective?

In 5. hour, the scene while they were sleeping the camera was showing them over and over again was great. In same time, the voice was telling about the characters. I think voice was telling their dreams. They left their homes and came to that place. It is so hard for them.

They believe in irimeas, it is so interesting. He brought them to a place without anything. Still.

A part name is back perspective. It shows the scenes again, from different view where irimias came and said to delay their plans. This different perspective is often made in the movie. They showed the events again, from another view. And it was not boring to watch again.

For example when i watched 2. times, i noticed that cat killer kid was escaping from that guy. Who said "i would not do anything to her".

He found lots of works to people. Irımias has lots of connections it seems.

So irimeas starts being informant. he sent information to the police and they write it down , changing some parts. Those people are normal, regular people, why police want to know about them?

And what happened to explosion? Still no clue.

Could not understand the person who was shouting "turks are coming" and was ringing the bell at same time. Why did the doctor go there, to get those wood pieces to cover the window?
