Another one rated too low, I assume that is due to it - so I read - not being "faithful" to the original television series. I have never watched that so I couldn't judge it in those terms, but as a film I enjoyed it I won't lie.

'Inspector Gadget' is very silly but self-aware, in a similar vein to 'Looney Tunes: Back in Action' and 'The Cat in the Hat'. I enjoyed those two films and, while this isn't as good as those, I liked this enough. I probably wont ever rewatch, but I can see younger audiences finding enjoyment with it.

There aren't, admittedly, any super noteworthy performances here, but that's not to say Matthew Broderick & Co. are bad in this - they give what's necessary. There's a few interesting cameos in there, too.

There are a couple of fairly amusing moments, but it's the dumbness that I think they do well - it's stupid and they know it. Like those other films I mentioned earlier, you're gonna annoy a lot of people by doing that so I can see why this gets hate - I don't think 51% is fair though, but each to their own of course.

More close to a parody than an homage to the original series.
Bad casting choices (the hair colour of Penny alone for example), 2 new irrelevant characters, Dr claw's face, no plot role for Brain (dog), no self-destructing message, Chief Quimby is arrogant in stead of angry and doesn't smoke a pipe, and even Dr claw's catchphrase is done wrong... I can understand why they wouldn't dress the dog up in a disguiss, but this is weak.
And so many non-subtle product placement it hurts.

Something positive? Yeah, it is mildly entertaining if you forget there ever was a Gadget show.

I am not sure what I watched.... It is a very odd movie.

Seems to want to be a Robocop parody for kids, or put another way: "What if Robocop was a slapstick physical comedy?"

I can't help but wonder if one of the other potential actors considered to play John would have helped the film… Jim Carrey or Robin Williams in particular. It would have been tough, though. No role had much to work with in the character department.

If one of the few things that got a laugh out of me now was
seeing Igor from _Young Frankenstein_ in the minion recovery meeting
, that's not a great batting average. This script is objectively a mess. I'm not even judging it in comparison to the cartoon series, as I've never seen that.

As a young kid, I remember seeing this because I spent the whole feature plugging my ears; the theater had their sound system set *waaaaaaay* too loud. Between that and my age, I didn't catch any of the subtler gags and references that kept me going during this viewing. _Star Trek_ fan that I became later in life, now I'm disappointed that Rene Auberjonois had such a brief role in this movie.

Since this movie is non-stop random sound effects, I've got one that sums up the whole movie:
