Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers

Angela Baker escapes from a mental hospital and surfaces at a summer camp as a counselor who lectures her teenage charges on proper moral behavior. Those teens who break her strict rules -- from the camp chatterbox or a sex-obsessed girl to the boys who are peeping Toms -- are murdered by the impostor in various gruesome ways. As more campers go missing, intrepid counselor Molly begins to piece together the truth.

So, this one goes for more T&A and gore than plot. For that, it's fun. A lot of the gore is cheesy, but really really enjoyable. The story line follows the first very basically, but you get the idea. Again, it's campy. Duh. A kick and a must for 80's horror fans.

This is actually my first time watching any of the Sleepaway sequels, and I have to say... This was NOTHING like I expected. Unhappy Campers was more of a horror comedy than anything else, and even though the tone was lighter, the kills were downright mean. Not in a gory way, but just... mean. The questionable acting was brought over from the first one, though. There's almost no-one that can deliver a line with any sort of believability in this one, which again... makes it somewhat funnier. This is a film you laugh at, and not so much with.

Sure... Sleepaway Camp III is funny in a cringy sort of way, but this is nothing really special, and done rather amateurish at that. I guess it's watchable, but barely.

The first movie is something of a cult classic. This, on the other hand, is typical 80s horror, with added nudity to gain an audience. Still, while it's not very good, it does have a toilet scene to rival the one in Trainspotting.
