Some top notch actors on this project. Very good detective story based on an Edgar Allen Poe story “The Murders in the Rue Morgue” which some say is the template from which all modern detective stories were birthed. Fast paced movie with a decent plot twist, which is predictable, yet entertaining.

An entertaining and creative horror mystery about a mysterious figure terrorizing the streets of Paris as several women are being found in locked apartments and all having been brutally murdered in a similar fashion. The film offers gripping mystery and campy fun. It starts with intense knife throwing sequence that immediately captures my interest. The lush color and set designs provide real great atmosphere combined with just right emphasis on the horror aspects as there are some startling violence. The cast give their best, the acrobat part is very funny and the gorilla acting is great. Also that suit! Probably one of the best gorilla suits. The sociopathic zoologist played by Karl Malden adds the campiness while Steve Forest's energy provides vivacity to the film. Definitely a great horror film and is worth checking out.
