The Smurfs

When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours -- in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.

It's not bad. It's an ancient theme, but it's presented in a relatively novel animation style at that time.

I grew up with the show and whoever wrote the script to this movie and the sequel probably never seen an episode. I mean really, the Smurf's get magically transported to NYC ? Did the screenwriter watch Enchanted while writing the script ?
Neil Patrick Harris and Grace Winslow a couple expecting a baby, using the Smurfs as parenting practice, is also a wtf. This isn't a Muppet Babies movie, it's the Smurfs!
Late great Anton Yelchin is wasted as the voice of Clumsy. Clumsy here they make too cutesy and vulnerable. No offense to Yelchin but I think Jake McBrayer is better cast for the new animated film. At least Yelchin will be remembered for films like Star Trek and Fright Night...not the Smurfs.

Actually for a Smurf movie you might even say it's pretty good although acting sucks... :|

Straight-up garbage. I used to like this when I was younger, mostly because I liked New York and weird, goofy things, but even then, I think I was just hypnotized by the neon CGI and chaos. Watching it now, it’s just so painfully soulless. Everything feels corporate, lazy, and plastic. The humor is unfunny, the acting is cringey, and the plot is a cheap blend of fish-out-of-water clichés and forced “heartwarming” beats that fall flat. It’s loud, tropey, and made for no one. Like, who is this for? It’s got that fake sheen of a movie that exists just to push merch, not tell a story. And the CGI? Looks like someone tried to deep-fry Play-Doh. Completely devoid of charm.
