An absolutely beautiful film. Wish I had movies like this about gay love when I was growing up. Think things would have been better.

I just love the simplicity of this movie, how unpretentious and raw it is. Just real emotion, real struggle, real nitty gritty work. The almost documentary feeling is coupled with breath taking scenery and cinematography to make for the most serene, beautiful, intense film. It's so refreshing to see a story about two gay men that doesn't revolve around their sexuality, but instead focuses on their personality traits - Gheorghe's romanticism, Johnny's fear of real emotion or commitment. As characters they really bring out the best in each other and it's so beautiful to watch. It's a love story, that happens to be between two men. Not once is their sexuality an issue for them, or the people around them. I just LOVE Josh O'Connor though, hope to see him in more stuff soon.

omfg I love repressed gay farmers...

_God's Own Country_ (a.k.a. _Brokeback Farmer_, the English version of _Brokeback Mountain_). A not overly-sentimental romance about a young lad trapped in both his milieu and his sexuality. Top notch performances by the gorgeous Alec Secareanu as the Romanian itinerant worker and Josh O'Connor as the youth in questioning add to the ruddy style of this earthy affair. Director Francis Lee does a masterful job moulding a lush and yet down to earth film.

One of the most interesting LGBT stories I've seen in recent years. The evolution of the relationship between the protagonists is natural, wild and captivating, also touching many points of personal growth and racism. It doesn't fall into as many tropes as Call me By your name, so another plus. The locations are the finishing touch to this great movie.

The movie was not bad. Would have been nice to see normal gay main characters on tv when I was growing up to see that we can have love as well.
In general the morale of the story is completely non existent. Still well made.

Absolute filth! Literally, this tale of sexual passion is set in the muddy domain of the Yorkshire dales. It's a familiar story, especially after Brokeback, but the two leads give it their all, both emotionally and sexually in this modest drama.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘God’s Own Country’:

1. A beautiful film about loneliness and the power of companionship. The power of love and someone else’s ability to make our lives infinitely better. To complete us.

2. The beginning of this film was VERY “Brokeback,” in more ways than one. So, as a viewer, I immediately felt like I was watching something super unoriginal. But it eventually found its own footing to its own story... and to a refreshingly-lovely ending.

3. I was hoping the L-word would’ve been said. But I get it. It took a lot for John to say all he did in the end. And that was enough.
