Omg I really loved this movie. It's not a typical Pokémon movie that's probably because of Ryan Reynolds he's so awesome in this one. It has some adult humor too and us just a great watch. The only bad thing is that it's a bit short haha.
What a dumb plot. Love the worldbuilding and the animation though.
Keep it up guys. This is the first Pokémon movie I've seen that wasn't terrible. I don't regret watching it at all. That's high praise for a Pokémon movie. This live action + CG render combination is the way to go.
Loved this film so hilarious and really revitalises the magic of what it is like to be a kid again.
I think the movie was awesome specially as a Pokemon franchise fan, it may had a few flaws but I don't mind those.
I just wished there was more to the Lucy and Tim's relationship development shown.
:)
The movie was just absolutely great! The way the CGI of the movie was put on screen was just absolutely insane. It's very loyal to the original games and show. TBH, I thought the plot was actually amazing even though others thought otherwise. It was "very twisty". The plot was really good and to those that thought it wasn't, also note that the movie was based on the game and they tried to make the movie loyal to the game. This was my childhood, so seeing it on screen portrayed correctly was :ok_hand_tone1:.
Damn this film is good! Now unfortunately my interest in pokemon took a dive shortly before gen 4 so my pokemon knowledge isn't up to date but deep down its always been close to my heart. This is something that 10 year old me would've loved to see!
Some people are saying that the film has a slow start, buuuut I can accept it, it's not too slow and it has a pretty intricate story to explain to you indirectly. Ryan Reynolds steals the show, this without a doubt wouldn't be as enjoyable without him voicing Pikachu!
Overall, I highly recommend this film to pokemon fans and people who haven't quite gotten into the series, it's full of lovable moments regardless of your past experience with the franchise!
Hell I wanna watch it again right now!

As someone that was a MASSIVE Pokémon fan and was their main demographic when it blew up in the 90s, this was a really nice nostalgia trip. And I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I thought it was made really well!
Excellent film. I had a cracking time watching 'Pokémon Detective Pikachu'.
As a kid I had a very loose interest in Pokémon, I didn't know anything about it other than a few of the main characters. Therefore, in regards to the realm of it all, I don't know much. With that noted, I was thoroughly entertained throughout this.
Ryan Reynolds is great as the voice of Pikachu, he had me amused from start to finish. Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy are also involved, they both honour their respective roles with strong performances. Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton, both of whom I was unaware of, are decent as Tim and Lucy.
The special effects are nice, while the plot is good if not amazing. I like the way the world is built, too. It's the humour and Reynolds' Pikachu which carry this production, that's for certain. I'm very much up for a sequel.
I expected nothing when I first saw this movie and was very surprised. They didn't have to go that hard but good on them.
