Powerful filmmaking

Apostasy is the low-budget feature debut of writer/director Daniel Kokotajlo and, as the name implies, it tells the story of a breakdown in the relationship between a member of the faithful and the organised religion to which they adhere, which, in this case, is the Christian denomination movement known as Jehovah's Witnesses. However, whilst the film tells the story of one person abandoning their religion, it also tells the parallel story of two people who refuse to do so, committing themselves more and more to its practices, even as they come to question some of its dogma.

Powerful film but it shouldn't be assumed this is reflective of every faith.

British drama focused on a family of Jehovah's Witnesses. Powerful, emotional film with a stirring performance from Sacha Parkinson. The viewer has to take director Daniel Kokotajlo's account of the religion as an accurate take, and it doesn't really paint it in a positive light, but it packs a punch.

Interesting but i feel it could have dug just a little deeper and only skimmed the surface. Like the other cult Scientology amongst others the banishment of loved ones and constant brainwashing is detrimental and complete opposite of love when surely god should be all encompassing.

Paradise.. well if people think they are really going to Paradise then i think why wait around here...off you go. We should be making this life paradise because this life is certain the after life is not.

Good all round performances...Ivanna was certainly a happy Jehovah and found lots of comfort at the Kingdom Hall (sarcasm)
