Just go watch it. It's on Amazon.

I went into it as cold as i could, only watching the trailer and was glad I did. Beautifully shot with a very clever plot and some of the most interesting characters, Border delivers many sublime moments that elevate it the cinematic heights, much like **Let the Right One In** (also based on a story by John Ajvide Lindqvist) was more than just a vampire movie.

A beautiful and ludic movie, for me it is a modern fary tale about humanity and nature, those how protect it and can relate to the enchanted world, transitioning through these ambients. Questioning the borders of the human relations.

This is a truly strange film and yet so rooted in the human experience. I understand why it won awards, and, the Oscar nomination for Best Make Up is definitely warranted, but, I think the strangeness alienates its audience from the themes and even from its artistry. I knew nothing about this film going in, except that it had an Oscar nod, so I was not prepared for the reveal nor the specific sexuality that transpires. However, it is brilliant in its treatment of "otherness" and the moral choices that are still personal, even when one has survived the worst kind of social abuse. The film's use of myth to dissect social and personal themes was rather brilliant, if very hard to watch. The film deserves an 8 (grand themes) out of 10 but I don't know if one enjoys this film. [Thriller, Drama, Myth]

Do you remember when you were a tiny child, back before you learnt that poo stank? That scent is what Swedish shocker _Gräns_ / _Border_ smells like.

A unique looking customs officer literally sniffs out the sins of the passengers that pass her. Then, one day she meets a mysterious stranger that shares her same secrets, both visible and hidden.

Everything about this film will make you feel like you're in the wrong zoo, looking at animals you don't recognise and wondering if you like the experience or not.

I can't promise you'll appreciate _Border_ (winner of Un Certain Regard at the 2018 Cannes festival) , as I'm not even sure I did. I feel confident saying, however, that you won't see anything else like it again this year.

An emotionally intense queer monster movie with strong leads. It develops more into a conventional scandinavian crime story towards the end, thereby loosing a lot of the ambiguity that made it so intriguing for me.

Great storytelling and ‘lovely’ sex scene

Featuring perhaps the weirdest sex scene in recent memory and a fairy tale plot that is immersed in reality, this is a real one-off, and that is a good thing.

Supremely weird and morally ambiguous; certainly not for everyone

Both a socio-political allegory and a mythological fable, Gräns is indefinable, switching fluidly from one genre to the next and one idea to the next, taking in such issues as the Other, the tribe, social ostracisation, social assimilation, and our tendency to rush to superficial judgements of that which we don't understand or which is different. Superbly acted and directed, there are, of course, a few problems; a subplot that feels disconnected from the main narrative, a ridiculous coincidence (the likes of which only ever happens in films), a twist you can see a mile away, and a pronounced moral ambiguity which is extremely difficult to parse. Nevertheless, this is unique filmmaking, which raises all manner of questions about how we act towards others.
