"Gunner" has a lot of flaws, including questionable music choices, iffy CGI effects, and reliance on typical action film tropes. However, it still delivers an old-school black ops thriller. Luke Hemsworth shines as the action hero. That being said, only watch if you have 90 min of your time to waste ...
Why the hell would Hemsworth and Freeman agree to do this absolute shit of a movie? Bad dialogue, cliche story. I couldn't watch anymore when they started shooting at hime with automatic rifles and he's just jogging for cover. A teenager with no experience in movie making could've made that scene more realistic.
Don’t waste your time on this.
All the budget of this movie went it to Morgan Freeman I guess, how can you else make such a bad movie.
The cgi and the special effects so awful, never seen it so bad before… the gun fire, the airplane jumps, even the fight scenes were terrible with slowmotion, replays from different angles like wtf
The things Gunner dit were also very unnecessary most of the time. His wife had balloons in her mouth, holy shit man her cheeks were massive.
Even after all the mistakes and stupid things I still kinda enjoyed it, watched it with my dad and we laughed about how crazy bad it is.
Don’t watch this alone, if I did that I would turn it off.
Movie it self was nothing more then a 2 but I enjoyed it with my dad, will remember this for a while so that makes it a 3,5.
Also how can someone like Morgan Freeman and Luke Hemsworth have approved the release of this crap😂 I don’t want to be seen in a movie like this
Gunner lures you in with familiar faces like Morgan Freeman and Luke Hemsworth – only to deliver a film that could hardly have been any less spectacular. What might appear at first glance to be a solid action flick quickly turns out to be a surprisingly soulless B-movie, lacking both budget and creativity to rise above mediocrity.
The plot? Pure cliché: ex-soldier, kidnapped kids, drug cartel, revenge mission – it’s all been done before, and far better. Within the first ten minutes, you can already tell exactly where it’s going, including the so-called “big” twists, which are so predictable they might as well be announced with neon arrows.
The effects are downright cringe-worthy – blurry explosions, unrealistic muzzle flashes, and editing so rough you’d think someone opened a video program for the first time. The fight scenes feel stiff and disconnected, as if they skipped rehearsals entirely.
And the characters? Cardboard cutouts spitting out dialogue that sounds like it came straight from an action movie cliché generator. Even Morgan Freeman, who usually adds some sort of gravitas to any role, looks like he’s reading his lines off a coffee cup.
All in all, Gunner is a major disappointment. With a cast like this, you expect at least something decent – but what you get is a cinematic dud, where the only thing that truly hits is the realization that those 90 minutes of your life are gone for good.
Didn't want to believe other reviews, but they're on point, unfortunately. The fights are very bad, both in terms of choreography and cuts. The CGI of explosions, shootings, even haze on the river - all is so bad as if some student made it as a freelance gig. Morgan Freeman took all the budget to himself, apparently. And the story is not as bad, but very typical...
Cheapest of cheap CGI for gunfire, smoke, even rain (why, though? no rain wouldn't have changed anything in that scene) and other unnecessary stuff; terrible acting throughout; no chemistry between characters at all; uninspired story, copied off of others; music choices of a Junior on set who should consider a career change; continuity errors en masse, even with scene crucial stuff like a red screw driver turning transparent with red stripes and overly "cool" and out of place, _incorrect_ subtitles for the one Asian character with trouble pronouncing English properly.
Who green lit this amateurish movie and why?
There are bad movies that are still enjoyable in some way and then there's bad movies without any merits. This is the latter.
Rather watch something else, even if you are into bad movies this won't do, it's _that_ bad.
Couldn't finish it. This is bad...
So so bad for a movie.
This movie sucks in absolutely every way possible:
3rd rate actors (they must have got Freeman simply to bump the cast list with his cameo appearance).
Lousy script.
Terrible acting.
The worst effects ever (I’ve never seen a poorer use of Green Screen).
Abysmal and poorly edited soundtrack.
Way over used sulky kid thread and the kid in question is worse than most of the rest of the cast.
The pointless girl-tag fight in the forest was the final straw. Seriously don’t waste your time on this, even if you can stream it for free!
