I'm glad they didn't went with either of simple endings. Obviously uplifting one and obviously dark one.
But the one we got is pretty depressing one in a new, somewhat realistic take on our love to equate those issues to civil rights movement.

***Mars Express*** doesn't reinvent anything in the genre but it's still a good concept and a highly enjoyable watch, it takes you right into it's world and doesn't let you go until the very end. Takes inspiration from *Blade Runner*, *Ghost in the Shell*, a sequence right out of a *Terminator* movie and I kept thinking of *Robots*. Great world-building and cultural complexities that doesn't spoonfeed you and leaves a lot to interpretation. The sci-fi tech and different robot builds are fascinating. The mystery didn't instantly grip me but it eventually did. The animation isn't the greatest but it more than does the job, it's very fluid and I like the character design. Carlos is the more developed character going through some complex stuff but I wanted a bit more from Aline. A bit slower in the second act but a wild third act with some solid action sequences and a good ending. I only wish it was longer and this would have done great in a series format.

First watch: 7/10
Second Watch: 8/10

from a news flash on TV in the movie, "American oscar nominees call for human resistance on social media."
nice little jabs
lots of detail - if you pause you can read the software code
relationships give it emotional depth

better than a lot of the science-fiction movies
(more science-fiction, please!)

The extent to which a woman AI will go after being cast aside to make sure no one else has to experience that... (Beryl).

It was a very cool movie to watch both for the sleek animation and awesome cyberpunk esthetics. I watched the English dub in theaters and the voice acting was top notch! I'm kind of sad that not many people are coming to watch it but the same time it is competing with some heavy hitters as of May 7, 2024. All in all, I'm very happy that I got to see this great movie!

Mars Express blends noir elements with a sci-fi narrative set on Mars, exploring androids and human conflict over robot liberation. As the protagonists face hidden dangers, tensions rise between humans and factions advocating for AI freedom. However, the film suffers from underdeveloped world-building, weak character development, and inconsistent pacing. While it hints at themes of consciousness, free will, and rebellion akin to Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell, it ultimately falls short, resulting in a formulaic narrative with little lasting impact.

A great movie with an intriguing story and a fascinating futuristic world to explore. The plot manages to create a simple yet engaging mystery that holds the audience's interest throughout the film. The villain, while not entirely original, avoids the most generic clichés, adding depth to the narrative. The ending, though sad and somewhat disjointed, still delivers impact and emotion, concluding the story in a memorable way.

Interesting adult sci-fi animation story, in Isaac Asimov style. Once again, it's giving you some thoughts about what being a living soul is about. Worth one time watch for sure.

I got into like the 50 minute mark of the movie and I couldn't resist but feel like I've seen a similar story somewhere, it annoyed me so much but then it dawned on me...this movie so much like a Detroit Become Human was made into a movie? Is it just me? Anyone who has played the game here wanna confirm it?

Mars Express is set in a futuristic universe with advanced technology and AI robots and high tech environment. DBH takes place in a near future Detroit where there are AI robots or Androids with high tech environment

ME includes themes revolving around artificial life and self awareness/identity, DBH focuses on androids with artificial intelligence gaining self awareness

ME centers around a private investigator investigating the so called mystery with a robot friend, DBH features a drunk detective working with an android detective to solve crimes

ME and DBH both focuses on choices and the need for freedom and control

Also...spoiler alert
in DBH according the choices you've made there are chances that the 3 playable characters could die or sacrifice themselves, in my case I got the worse case scenario and literally 2 playable characters and an NPC I liked died 😭, and in ME, the 2 main characters died.
Am I onto something? or am I on something

What I think both projects failed to do was form a narrative to actually care about any characters...in my humble opinion, when playing DBH I really didn't care much about the characters and even in ME I did not care about any characters. I loved the themes of both the projects, it even frightened me sometimes.

Overall a solid movie, I think I probably need to rewatch this down the line and my rating could improve but for now both ME and DBH I give 7/10.

Get Boring fast, It Is not an action film, nor a sci fi, it Is like a old person trying yo figure out the future watching videos on YouTube, and then make a movie,

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. While it doesn't bring too much massively new thematically, what it does it does well.
Complex, high-concept sci-fi with awesome sound design and score, that expects you to keep up.

It reminded me a lot of solid Japanese cyberpunk animes at time, but with it's own very distinct French identity for obvious reasons. The overall story did a few things differently than I was expecting, which I always enjoy. "Oh they are not going to do this are they" and then no, they actually don't.

I promised myself I'd watch more non-English language films this year and so far I'm yet to be disappointed.

The score and soundtrack were real highlights.
