Stunning, truly stunning.

As I pressed play on 'Togo' and began watching the initial scenes unfold, I was expecting a rehash/retread on Disney's previous films on this sort - e.g. 'White Fang' or 'Iron Will'. Those are good in their own right, but this 2019 film - which is about a true story - takes things to another dimension.

It tugs at the heartstrings profusely, from the first scene to the very last. It's superbly written, with there being a fair amount of surprises in terms of how the story unfolds. It's shot beautifully and put together, via the set design etc., excellently, while the score is magnificent.

Then you have the dogs, who are insanely charming throughout - especially, of course, the star that is Togo (Diesel). There's many a moment with him that produce all the feelings, from joy to sorrow to everything in between. The dogs are great and incredibly adorable.

Away from all of that, you have an outstanding performance from Willem Dafoe. Before seeing this, the most I remember of him is his role in 'Mr. Bean's Holiday'. This now takes over in those regards, it's a brilliant job done by Dafoe. Julianne Nicholson merits praise, also.

What a film. Not what I was expecting whatsoever, in the nicest possible way. Glad to see it has also been highly rated online. A must-watch!

A beautiful film that brought tears to my eyes. Willem Dafoe, Julianne Nicholson are brilliant! And the true stars, the beautiful dogs who captured my heart.

I rate this film a 10/10 because Togo never truly got the recognition he deserved, but at the same time I don’t think they needed to marginalize the achievements of Balto. He was the media darling through no fault of his own. Togo and Balto both deserve all the celebration because dogs are the truest friends humans can ever have.

Regardless they are both very good boys and deserve all the love they’re given today.

I’m waiting for the film of Laika, the first dog in space from the USSR, and I’m sure will make me cry worse than Togo lol

@ak13 Maybe people should look at how cruel human beings are today to dogs. The only other species that has 100% aligned itself with the human race. The only one. People treat these dogs like fashion accessories and give them no attention and leave them in cages for days on end and throw them to the pound when it’s not fashionable anymore. Sled racing was a hard life, but those dogs and humans experienced it together.

Great movie based on a true story about a man and his sled dog team led but a Togo, a puppy misunderstood who became the heart of this story. Willem Defoe really is outstanding in this film as a tough leader with a heart of gold. A great watch, an inspirational story.

Fuck Balto, Fuck Disney for nuking this film for a fucking tax break.

This film is amazing great acting, great action sequences. The crossing of the Norton sound was epic, Disney actually did something right and corrected history and they even had the 10 or 12th great grandson of the original Togo play Togo in the film is awesome. But they couldn't help themselves from fucking it up for money.

A tension filled, heartfelt adventure about a man and his dog(s). Solid performances and an intriguing true story make for a pretty great romp through icy Alaska. Between this and _The Lighthouse_, Defoe is having a great year for movie defining monologues. Honestly quite surprising that something of this quality has been relegated to Disneys streaming platform, but I'm certainly not complaining.

Togo as a puppy steals the show and where most of the charm is. Either way, this is a charming and dramatic true story of a hard working sleigh dog. That got less credit than Balto did.
